Biography
Dewshine
Dewshine is considered a mage in the city of Mortuus Civatem. Unlike all of his peers, he has the ability to see, summon, and commune with spirits of many kinds.
He most often takes up jobs in which he soothes the souls of the dead, settles disputes between the spiritual and elemental forces around the city, and occasionally even contacts spirits for his research to better understand the other side. While most dragons cannot easily see the souls of the dead, some dragons will occasionally report fleeting mists and shapes around him, before they disappear.
Kibala is Dewshine's guardian as the imperial deals with the spirit world. The chimera, and the others of his breed like him, can contact both the physical and spiritual realms. They are fierce protectors of the spirit guides that bond with them, and have a reputation for even fighting off the most dangerous of souls.
The two did not start off on good terms. When Dewshine and Kibala were first matched by Dewshine's mentor, neither trusted the other. Kibala believed Dewshine was far too weak to be a spirit guide. Meanwhile, Dewshine thought Kibala was far too fierce and assertive a guardian for him.
Over time, through their mentor and sleepless nights of having to work together through assignments and their own goals, the two learned to see eye to eye. Now, Dewshine wouldn't rather have any creature less ferocious and Kibala sees the value of Dewshine's gentle, patient nature. Together, they balance one another out.
