Biography

Seafoam

Golden sun beat down,
Warm the sand that shifts,
Brought in by the tide,
From the deep the water lifts,
Carry up the sand swirls,
Swirls and swirls till foam,
Clusters at the sea's edge,
The edge of his home.

Seafoam loves the oceans,
And the oceans love him back,
It brings him many treasures,
For shells and pearls it does not lack,
But now there comes the real gold,
The cool frothing sea foam,
Which little dragon cheerfully splatters,
Over his scales to soothe wings and bones.

Again the golden sun beats down,
The tide begins to slip,
It drags away the shining foam,
The beaches start to rip,
Hatchling knows that he must go,
Swim down to deep blue depths,
So go he does with powerful strokes,
Far down until he comes up and takes breath.

A wave lapped the shore. Crabs scuttled through the foam, up the white beaches of Crystalspine Bay. Unaware, they were, of the watcher. Green eyes sparkling with curiosity and crackly blue wings outspread to dry off after the long swim. Seafoam watched the crabs, as he did every day, from the lilac jagged cliffs. He waited as they scuttled away through tunnels into the cliff, then hopped off of the rock and glided into the sea with a splash.

Seafoam is the kind of dragon most would think of as being slightly distant, with his head in the clouds and his heart in the sea. An odd dragon, not just because of the fact that he was gifted eternal youth by the sorrowful ocean, but because of his seemingly unlimited imagination. All the best thinkers have wandering minds, widened and open to new possibilities and facts. Dragons like Seafoam are extremely rare, with their intelligence but at the same time a gentle naivety that makes them seem sweet and innocent, which most of them are. These qualities have their hindrances though, and while smart and imaginative, Seafoam isn't exactly the best at socialising. He tries, and maintains a positive attitude towards any situation, seeing the best in every dragon no matter how rude to him they are. But his ways of thinking, questioning and puzzling over the workings of the world, can affect his ways of talking, meaning some dragons just don't understand what he's talking about at all. Perseverance, people say, is a key value in life, and the little skydancer has plenty of it, keeping on trying despite the setbacks life has given him.
There is balance in everything though, and as well as setbacks, Seafoam has great powers. His eternal youth, for a start, gifted to him by the ocean itself. He still wonders, or maybe hopes, that somewhere the lost Tidelord was watching and agreeing to the gifting of the power.
Another of his talents is his remarkable intelligence. Give him a problem to solve, a code to crack, a sum to complete, or ask him for a fact or two, Seafoam will do it in a few seconds. Many are surprised at his quick wit, wondering how on earth a dragon so young can be so clever. Seafoam just let's them keep on wondering, partly because he has no idea himself and partly because the mystery of it is satisfying.
The one thing Seafoam loves the most is the sea. On almost any day that isn't pouring with rain, howling with bitter winds, or laiden with thickly falling snow, he makes his way down to the beach. Most of the time he just swims, observing in awe the beautiful fish and sea creatures around him, finding it more exhilarating the further out he goes. Other times, he simply plays with the sand, looks for creatures hidden in rockpools, or on days when he feels calm or tired, just sits and watches the rolling waves slide into the golden coast.
