Kars is the main antagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 2: Battle Tendency.
Kars is the leader of the Pillar Men, (dragons, in this case) and the designer of the Stone Mask. His goal is to evolve further, to become immune to the sun's rays. Thus he seeks the Red Stone of Aja, to empower his Masks, battling the Ripple users for its possession. He is ranked 1st out of all the Pillar Men.
Personality
Kars is intelligent, ruthless, and single-minded in his dedication to obtaining the Red Stone of Aja. He is stated to have be a genius among the Pillar Men, having been the original creator of the Stone Mask.
he appears to be the most aloof and no-nonsense of the Pillar Men, rarely smiling and often being the one who has to remind the other two of their ultimate objective. Obsessed with obtaining the Red Stone of Aja, he is willing to trample anyone in his way, no matter how dishonorable the method.
With the advantage of his resilience and immortality, Kars is a methodical and patient individual who can infiltrate very well. Extremely observant, noted to observe a room to strike all its occupants in one move. In battle, he is relentless, answering the opponents movies and tricks with moves of his own, calmly. Unaffected by setbacks, he will relentlessly struggle to win through the direst situation.
Despite his stern, no-nonsense exterior, Kars possesses a murderous and sadistic nature. He has stated that a life without an enemy is boring, and has shown to enjoy fights occasionally. However, he only really appreciates seeing his enemies being in a weak position and panicking, appreciation the expression and cries of despair, often licks his blade or lips in anticipation of their demise or when his bloodlust flares up.
These tendencies become more clear when he ascends into the Ultimate Lifeform, and he is seen to thoroughly enjoy his status.
Kars keeps an ambiguous relationship toward those around him. On one hand, he considered Santana to be nothing but a simple guard dog, and slaughtered the rest of his race (including his parents) without hesitation or remorse. On the other hand, he expresses himself to care deeply for Esidisi and Wamuu, his comrades. Kars also seems to have a certain respect for nature and animals; he caused someone who was going to harm a cat to get into an accident and die. And, deliberately complicated an otherwise-simple landing to avoid falling on a flower. Ultimately, Kars is capable of affection and forming bonds with others.
~ ~ Other Information ~ ~
The Pillar Men are from a race of ancient superbeings. These beings are now nearly extinct, but used to live hundreds of thousand of years ago. They are highly intelligent, extremely strong, and able to manipulate their bodies to a very fine degree; however, they are vulnerable to the rays of the Sun and to the Ripple.
Stone Masks are powerful ancient artifacts. They were originally introduced as sacrificial devices used by certain Vampiric cults hidden within the ancient tribal empires. The Stone Mask is triggered when it is touched by blood. It then extends tendrils of stone from its edges, piercing the wearer's skull and brain. The Mask's wearer is then released from the constraints of natural limitation, gaining immense strength and other abilities. This vampirism process has been shown to work at least on humans and horses. The process produces a brief flash of light
The Red Stone of Aja is a perfect gemstone sought by the Pillar Men. The stone is said to be able to absorb light and refract it a million times which it then emits as a laser-like beam, and in conjunction with the Stone Mask, would enable Pillar Men to unlock their full potential, removing all weaknesses, including the inability to withstand sunlight. Kars, Esidisi, and Wamuu pursued it, thousands of years ago.
The Ripple, also known as Hamon, is an energy used in an ancient form of martial arts. Through self-controlled respiration, a trained being can produce an energy manifesting as ripples throughout their body and that is identical to the energy of the Sun, in polar opposition to the energy exerted by Vampires, Zombies and other creatures.
Kars' power is that of light; he is able to produce bladed appendages from his arms and legs and use these to reflect blinding light toward his enemies. The light comes from the tiny, shark teeth-like claws running along the edge of the blade much like a chainsaw. It is from the reflections of these claws that gives Kars' Blades their shining intensity. Kars' blades are sharp enough to cut through most objects
Bodily Manipulation: As with the other Pillar Men, Kars has the same body manipulation capabilities shared by his companions. Once he ascends into the Ultimate Being, Kars' shapeshifting abilities are enhanced with access to the genetic code of all of known lifeforms along with reactive evolution. As a result, previous Pillar Man abilities like absorption become functionally obsolete.
Allies
Esidisi: Kars appeared to care for his comrade, being the only Pillar Men of his generation to agree with his ideals. He trusts him completely. The two seem to hold a romantic relationship.
Wamuu: Along with Santana, Kars raised him along with Esidisi. While Kars respected Wamuu's ability as a fighting genius, he showed no respect for his honor and thought he was too pure to be a warrior. Nonetheless, externally he seemed to care for Wamuu deeply. Internally, he indeed holds much affection for him
Santana: Along with Wamuu, Kars raised him along with Esidisi. In comparison to Wamuu, however, Kars saw Santana as guard dog and left him behind when he couldn't keep up with them.
