Shade

Shade is the clan's reconnaissance scout, and an excellent stealth expert. His job is to patrol outside the lair and around the area for any suspicious activity. He also gathers information from the outside, from either rival clans or from other fire clans. Any majorly interesting information he gathers, or matters of urgency he uncovers, goes directly to fluffy king Voelcifus. He then determines what action to take, (which is usually most peaceful anyway) and Shade typically returns to keep watch around the lair and outside of it.

It's very difficult to follow Shade anywhere, as he is a natural at disappearing into any shadow, small or big, thin or long. He is equally mysterious, keeping quiet a majority of the time, and unwilling to share anything about himself to any dragon. Though Honeydew helped greatly in raising him, and she seems to know him best, she is stumped by his reluctance to become close to any other dragons in or out of the clan.
Perhaps he doesn't wish to endanger anyone should he be captured or worse someday.
Or, maybe he is actually afraid to open up to anyone, and can't bring himself to bond for some reason.
No one seems to know.
He doesn't even appear to be interested in finding a mate at all.
Though it's rare to see, he seems to be the happiest and most content, when he is alone or when he is training and relaxing with his shadowy, swift and clever familiars.

Unlike Caelum of the Biforma family, Shade does speak but simply chooses not to for most of the time. His sentences are typically few and far in between. His philosophy seems to discourage letting anyone know your spoken thoughts or emotions, as speech reveals too easily your truths in words and tone. To be silent is to be safely hidden. Another one of his reasons for being a dragon of few words is that the only words that do come out of him are statements and training assertions.
If one wishes to train under Shade, to immerse themselves in the shadows entirely, to become quicker than the changing wind, to sleep with one ear and eye open, to become one with the art of stealth and strategic combat, one must not be afraid of the dark, total silence, isolation and heights. To train under Shade is to endure a lot, and survive the impossible.

Though other trainees might see Shade's role as being sneaky, cowardly and deceitful, Shade isn't the kind of common soldier that fights up close, exposed and with willpower. Shade will use anything and everything to his advantage in a battle, darkness, poisons, illusions, projectiles, traps and terrain. He does not "fight fair" if he is fighting for his life, and he does not "fight fair" when it comes to any dragon challenging him. He is not strong enough physically to fight an opponent six times his size, nor is he able to withstand high powered elemental attacks as much as the other soldiers. But he more than makes up for it with his style and his skills in combat, making him tough to land a hit on, difficult to avoid, and at his best, any opponent will see nothing at all before they know they've been attacked.
