Foxglove

A long time ago, a wave gently pulled back to the sea, leaving a tiny green egg in its wake. Moments before there had been nothing, but now a seagull swooped down and picked the egg up.

Months later, a fae dragonet clambered out of a cracked green eggshell. The seagull stared at her in alarm, and her nestmates- three small seagull babies- began squeaking and trying to run away from the seafoam-colored dragonet. The seagull pushed her over the side of the nest, and the baby fell.

She landed in the sea- or rather, the sea reached up to gently catch her. As she went underwater, little bubbles of seafoam gathered together around her head like a bubble. Every few seconds, a bunch of bubbles would shoot away and new ones would surround the dragonet. She breathed in the air, and peered around. A fish swam towards her, and she yelped. Immediately the currents blew the fish away.

And so the dragonet lived for years and years. As she grew bigger, she made up a name for herself.

Foxglove.

Many years have passed. Foxglove has grown to a rather large fae dragoness, and lives on the coast of the Zephyr Steppes. But she knows not its name; all she understands is the way the ocean responds to her and keeps her alive. Foxglove knows the fish and the reefs; the waterbugs and occasional fly that the currents bring for her food; how nothing can harm her so long as she stays in the sea.

And that is why she clambers out of it one day, dripping wet and gazing around in awe. Foxglove wanted to explore, wanted an element of danger.
That is how she found her mate, that is how she learned to speak, that is how she now is the matriarch of a clan on the Zephyr Steppes.
This is why she's strong willed, why she requires her Clanmates to become warriors, why she pays tribute to the sea. The reason why she loves everyone in her Clan fiercely, and will fight for them like nobody's business.

This is why Foxglove is a survivor.
