NOTES
- Was a prey inside Hircine's Hunting Grounds.
- Got brought back to life? Or reborn??
- They were a fox or a shifter?
- Maybe a werefox, but they got confined to their beast form in the Hunting Ground, as a punishment for something they did in their life??
- Afterwards, finding them worthy of a second chance (because???), Hircine made them reincarnate into the world.
- Tarot keeps the hunting rules in check.
- Try to get other dragon clans on board with the Spirit Village's hunting rules.
- To not kill too many animals / take too many resources, etc etc.
- They are an agent of Hircine - a bit like Dovaaklar and Aela's son, Fletcher - and want to spread the Hunt over Sornieth.
- A mix of politics, advocating, and representation for the art that is Hunting.
- That's why Hircine sent them over to here, after their death in the God's Hunting Grounds.
- They remember what it was like to be prey.
- But now they get to feel what hunters experience when hunting?
- Tho they rarely hunt themself.
- They mostly ask Aurora to put rules in place, depending on what other clans decided to hunt that year.
- Like, since the Spirit Village has the Harvest every winter - when the fur is prime, etc - they need to make sure to not wipe out species of fauna.
- And since they're obviously not alone in the Snowsquall Tundra... They need to keep that stuff in check.
- The Harvest did cause friction with other clans, because the villagers tended to... Take a lot from nature then.
- That was in the early days of Aurora's ruling; official rules were, thus, put in place (when Aurora disappeared) to make sure that the environment was cared for.
- At first, the Spirit Village hunted with bows and crossbows only. However, considering that these weapons cause the death of the creature by making 'em bleed out... It turned some peeps off from the activity, since it was a bit gruesome and the critter suffered for a bit, there...
- Therefore, the Science group(tm) made what's called the "Fire Branches"; strange weapons (mix of technology and magic energies) capable of firing a magical silver projectile at high speed at the creature.
- There is a "chamber" in the Branch, with fire and lightning energies, which causes an "outburst" and makes the silver projectile go nyoooom!!!
- The Villagers would aim at the heart and lungs, with bows and crossbows... But with the Fire Branches, they can do a headshot; the projectile gets straight to the brain, and the magical properties of the bullet (from the wolfsbane plant, that's inside the silver ball?) shuts it down entirely, leading to a clean and quick death!
- It is therefore much easier to make others accept to hunt or trap, as the animal death is quick and painless.
- Fire Branches are made of hollow wood, plus a small "locket" that sets off the lightning + fire energies within the chamber... You insert a silver + wolfsbane projectile / elongated ball in the hollow rail (located after the energy chamber), and then you close that stuff up and take aim; when you gotta shoot, you gotta press the "locket" or small lever underneath the hollow wood part :'O!
- The "firing" sound is not too loud, and Fire Branches (being hollow), are quite light... Maybe heavy like a small-medium pelt? (compared to the holder, LOL!)
- Fire Branches are rare and only constructed one at a time (they take a lot of expertise to build, both in technology and magic forces), and therefore... Only those working in the Fur's Resource Pack can use them (they have a permit / tattoo / distinctive sign on them; haven't decided what it will be yet, lol :'33).
- They are called "Fire Branches", due to being made out of sturdy wood; also when the projectile is ejected at great speed from the rail (after someone hits the small lever or locket), you can see a flare of orange / gold energy, exiting the end of the Branch's rail...
- Some Beastclans (at least, those closest to the Spirit Village, emotionally and physically) have adopted the Fire Branches too, for their hunting and trapping endeavours. Only a few of these Beastclan members have a Fire Branch tho, as those weapons are made one at a time... And it takes a long while to make one, and lots of expertise!
- Also, the individuals can only have one. A Fire Branch can fire only one projectile at a time (gotta reload after firing!)
- If a Fire Branch gets broken or stolen, the individual has to give the resources (to make one) or their time and help, to the Science group(tm), to get it replaced. Omg.
- Here I will eventually put the species that are commonly hunted...
- All the fur bearers for sure.
- Those from the Southern Icefields, and then ones from other regions that the clan's hunters can get during exceptional hunting trips...
- Only the Spirit Village has the right to hunt wolves, and during the Harvest only; the other clans can hunt them a little too at other times only... As a treat.
- The Spirit Village explains that by saying that wolves are sacred to them, and that it is a sacrilege to just kill them like any other prey.
- Basically they have... Wolf monopoly lol.
- The other animals that can be hunted locally, for meat, pelt, bones and other resources, like horns or claws etc etc??; elks, rasa, nochnyr and impaler, owlynxes, walruses, wolpertingers, stoats, yeti, mammophants and bulletphants, maulers, shalebucks, poultrygeist and turkeys.
- Basically, all of those with feathers and pelts from the Boreal Woods (vuls would be cool, but I imagine they would break into small shards when hit, which is... Not productive when you're in the "fauna parts" trade.)
- Tho maybe??
- There's actually also foxes/a kind of fluffy vul, like mentionned in Gou's bio.
- "Thievul" is those creatures' name.
- Tarot has a scarred over face, due to being hunted by shifters in Hircine's Hunting Grounds.
- They're draconic, but very reminiscent of a fox or a furry creature bla bla bla.
- Uses Sunset's Fade's observation data, as well as complementary tarot readings, to decide the hunting quotas.
- The tarot cards get their powers from ???, we just don't know.
- But Tarot truly believes that they're helpful to his job. The readings, coupled with Sunset's Fade's sightings, can guide him to allow bigger killing quotas for a certain species; or, on the contrary, to make him lower those quotas, or even forbid the hunting of a creature for the season...
- Like, the cards can agree with Sunset's Fade's job, or even nuance their observations...
- Very rarely do they outright contradict the biologist, tho...
