Biography
Start-up diagnostics: running.
Servo 13.4.6A damaged or misaligned. Seek repair.
Diagnostic complete.
System initialising.
Sensory processing online.
At first, everything was overwhelming. There was no spark of conciousness, because the construct was too busy attempting to process competing inputs and partition new memory banks to bother with questions like 'who am I?' and 'can I comprehend myself?'
A tongue, apparently present exclusively for aesthetic purposes, prodded at teeth and categorised their shape and purpose; slashing, cutting, crushing. Reinforcing fins lined the webbed material of broad wings, the edges sharpened to slice through flesh as well as air. The spine curved and swayed, the construct testing the articulation and actuators; modified nerves, grown in dishes instead of creatures, carried impulses and data through the metal and artifical meat of the body and brain. The information was catalogued neatly, too new to be instinct, too inherent to be called anything else; here is your head, here is your mouth, here is the sky, there in the distance is the sun.
The construct must have been constructed. What for? The query is assigned to priority one.
