Biography

The Shadow Flight has a bit of a... stigma. That their dragons are tricky and underhanded, sneaky, thieves; that they’re mean, even violent.

…But Soren knows this is untrue for many, if not most.

Though Soren is a bit young as far as leaders go, his ideals are already set in his mind: to show the world that Shadow dragons can be trusted and avoid underhanded tricks; even if they do love to succeed, that they can do so honorably; that they are just as friendly and kind as dragons from other flights.

And so, as soon as he reached maturity, he left home. Not that the majority of the clan was bad -- but he could see corruption in dragons who were too cruel over simple mistakes, who took things just too far too often, who guarded themselves for fear that their horridness would be seen by all. Soren couldn't stand the selfishness and lack of compassion expressed by those few in his clan.

He wandered for what felt like years, encountering other Shadow dragons and clans, and finding all too frequently the malice he hated. So Soren came to the decision that he would establish his own clan, where dragons of all elements could come to escape what they feared and detested under the promise of kindness, community, and collaboration. "The Idyllic Dark," he called it; where Shadow dragons can prove that they aren't underhanded as others may perceive while still remaining faithful to Shadowbinder in different ways.

At first, it was just Soren, approaching whatever lone dragon wandered into the Tangled Wood, until he met the Mistyhollow Agent called Sebastian; during their conversation, Sebastian revealed that he too was tired of the inherent distrust he encountered from other flights, cast out from land after land. Soren, moved and sympathizing with him, suggested Sebastian stay with him, and work together to change that stereotype for everyone in Shadowbinder's realm.

Now, Lord Soren is the young but wise leader of a humble clan, aided by his dear friend, personal advisor, and assistant all in one. He has a long way to go, but his stern yet compassionate attitude towards the dragons who follow him are already the makings of a wonderful leader. Outside of his duties, Soren remains much the same: serious, and a bit stubborn, but also sensitive, and able to balance emotion and logic impeccably. In times of celebration, he even "lets loose" (by his standards, which are both underwhelming and wholly unpredictable).

As for the clan itself? The dragons that reside in the Idyllic Dark's territory are, by default, good, or at the very least not "bad"; because of Soren's own principles, the great majority tend to be gentle-hearted, enjoyers of the arts, protectors or healers for the weak and injured. With a community and leader so intent upon kindness and collaboration, how could they not be? Truly, while the clan's members might be a varied and odd bunch, it's easily one of the most peaceful and friendly communities in the domain of the Shadowbinder -- though not without its curiosities, of course.
