Alzirr
She/Her Desiple of the Lightweaver "The Disgraced" |
Alzirr was not like the Lightweaver's other children. She was special, different, the youngest of her mother's creations. She was pulled down from the heavens that the Arcanist studied so closely, tethered to the earth by her mother's magic, and the citrine gems the Lightweaver used for her eyes. She kept to herself, studying the sky and everything around her. And she never forgot. She was a scholar, not a fighter. But, she did have one ace up her sleeve. In her examinations of dragonkind and magic, she developed a type of Light magic: Singing. Alzirr had the most exquisite voice in all the land, and soft and elegant as the night sky, and mixing her talent with Light magic, she could worm her way into someone's mind, controlling them. And it frightened her mother. Alzirr was sent far, far away, to the Starfall Isles where she was tasked with spreading her mother's teachings. But she came for so much more. A chance to work beside the Arcanist, the greatest mind in all of Sornieth, was something that she could not pass up. And there she stayed for eons, studying beside the Arcanist, learning from him, and he from her. She worked, and worked, and worked, neglecting the reason she was sent there to begin with. And, for the first time in her life, forgetting... It was an evening like any other. Alzirr was busying herself recording her observations of the celestial patterns of mid-July when the Arcanist spoke. "There is so much we don't know. I am pleased with the progress we have made on the Arcane flight, for the time being, but the way my brethren choose to lead in foreign and perplexing." And then he looked at her. "You wouldn't mind finding out?" Sent out on a to explore, learn, and come back. Planting a flag in the ground, if you would. Where had she heard that before? All of the memories of her childhood came rushing back. The training, her mission, and Singing, oh Singing, she had forgotten the greatest feeling in the world. She had to go back, to see her mother again. It was time for a homecoming. She flew. She flew fast and far. In just a day's travel, she had reached The Wyrmwound, where she spent the night with her brother and his clan. She sang her way through Sornieth, till she reached her sister Maeve in the Foxfire Bramble. And first, her sister was confused to see her sister away from her post in the Starfall Isles, but she warmed up, or so Alzirr thought. Maeve truly felt threatened by her sister's unique magic and betrayed by her dishonoring their mother's wishes. And as Alzirr slept, Maeve took care of both problems... In the morning, Alzirr woke to her sister and a numb mouth. She tried to speak, but she couldn't. Then Maeve stopped the numbness. And Alzirr experienced the worse pain she ever had. Maeve had cut out her tongue. Alzirr ran. She ran through the Foxfire Bramble, tearing anything and everything apart till she passed out from exhaustion and pain. She woke in the Below, and made an alliance with the leader of the clan, Maiele. They both wanted revenge. And they will not stop until they do. |
