Velvet

Some say the curse was lain upon him in the egg, or others say he was enchanted when just a hatchling. Whichever tale dragons agree on, one thing is for certain with Velvet, and that is that he is unlike any other dragon. A curse? An enchantment? Yes, and one that many would think a gift, but the few who have experienced it would scream warnings of it and call it a burden beyond measure. One of the only dragons to have had the curse laid upon him is Velvet.
He hatched like any other normal hatchling, in a nest with a brother who was exalted soon after hatching. But unlike other hatchlings, Velvet stayed hidden away in his parents' home until he was two weeks old. Upon making his way into the sunlight for the first time in his life, the sun beat down on his scales and you glinted off of them, making the gathered dragons gasp. Despite Orb and Moonsilver's vague, confused warnings, nothing had prepared them for the hatchling that stepped into the clan camp that day. Some wouldn't even have described him as a hatchling.
Now, what exactly is so stunning about Velvet? I shall tell you.
Velvet's scales are the most lustrous gold, a deep, rich colour that reflects the light in shattered beams. They are covered in a fine layer of gold leaf, there since he hatched. And his wings, a gaudy wine red like plush velvet cushions, are made of a thick, velvety red silk speckled with miniscule star-shaped diamonds. Just like any other dragon in every other way, these astounding features in no way disable Velvet, but instead give him the appearance of an expensive trinket the size and shape of a dragon. Unsurprisingly, the occasional dragon actually does mistake him for some kind of statue or figurine, and has to be calmed down after the shock of him 'coming to life' before their eyes.
