▾ With her sun-faded, wind-scoured, salt-crusted hide, Rime is unmistakably a water dragon. She was hatched into a clan of noble seers from the Spiral Keep, bred for prophetic greatness. But the currents swept her egg away from its birthplace and tossed it to shore far away: near a small fishing clan from the northern islands of the Reedcleft Ascent. Rime was raised here as one of their own, given the task of baiting hooks and repairing nets as soon as she was old enough to tie knots. But just as much as her adoptive clan, the Sea of a Thousand Currents raised the lost princess. She learned to read the winds from the shorebirds that flocked in droves to nest in the cliffs.The rhythm of the tides set her daily routine, and at times she swore they were whispering to her, pointing her snout towards the richest shoals.

▾ Rime never knew about her heritage, never mourned her lost pedigree or longed for a different life. By the sweat of her brow and the strength of her back, she made a good living for herself, the ocean providing her with bounty enough to share. She knew on some level that the water favored her, but years of hard work and discipline had tempered any arrogance she may have felt about this as a young drake.

▾ Most mornings, Rime can be found hawking that day's catch near the docks, a ready source of both seafood and advice. Gladly, she offers up tidbits of local history, a word about the weather, and occasionally a cryptic, off-handed statement that will either baffle her customers or stun them into silence. Without being aware of it, or attempting to cultivate her gift in any way, Rime still possesses the clairvoyant intuition of a seer. If asked about it, she would chalk it up to common sense and experience, though it's obviously something more.

▾ Rime spends much of her time alone, as she has a gruff, sullen personality that not many find appealing. She's well-suited to long stretches of isolation at sea, and is capable enough to tend her nets and her vessel without help. But she does get lonely sometimes, longing to meet someone who is willing to share their love not just with her, but with the turbulent waters that will always be her first family and lifelong companion. On foggy nights, in the sodden, grey hours before dawn, she can be found combing the lengths of rocky beach for flotsam, or perhaps another soul as bound to the sea as she is.
