____Long ago, Avail was born to a northern tribe in the Cloudscape Crags. Her home life was simple and hard, but it was home. She spent her days working hard to help feed her family and tribemates and her nights cuddled up with her large family, quiet but happy. As she grew, she learned that she had a knack for magic. She was the freshly appointed healer when, seemingly overnight, everything changed.

____A blizzard unlike any other washed over their small, underground tribe. While summer snows were not unheard of, it had been ages since these lands had seen a storm this terrible. Avail is unsure of how long they were buried. Long enough for the larder to run empty, for the sick and young to die quickly and the stronger members to begin to fade. The young Tundra did her best to keep them healthy, but as the dead piled up, fewer kin would listen to her. She knew they blamed her, it was her job to listen to the sky, to hear the warnings the gods gave them. But she had heard nothing and, before she knew it, everyone she cared for had died.

_F U T U R E_

____Since pulling herself from the snow that trapped her tribe, Avail has carried the memory of her fallen tribe within her. She blames herself for their deaths and has taken a silent vow to never let anything like that happen again. For a while, she simply roamed the tundras in self-exile, asking the gods why they hadn't warned her.

____Her answer will come in the form of an egg, abandoned and frozen in the snow. Unable to leave it there to die, she gathers it up and cares for it, praying all the while. It hatches and slowly, she rebuilds her tribe. They face hardship and worse, and sometimes, she will wonder if it was at all worth it. But when she sees the light shine in those children's eyes, she knows. Maybe, throughout it all, she may even learn to forgive herself and move forward.
