Biography
Trace and his twin brother Lumen were conceived on a mission to the Shifting Expanse, and their mother returned the children to the Fortress of Ends for them to be brought up in the "traditional" way. Trace and Lumen always had a close bond as children; when they were accepted into an Order, Trace was taken into the Seekers, named for his incredible tracking skills.
Once he took on the responsibilities of an order, Trace was constantly on the move, having little time to visit Lumen. How horrifying it was when he returned from a strenuous mission, only to hear rumors that his twin was to be put on trial for freeing Shade creatures from their prisons. Trace decided to defend his brother on trial. It was wholly ineffective; not only was Lumen sentenced to exile, but Trace's reputation was damaged beyond repair. So he decided to leave along with Lumen.
The twins fled to the Starfall Isles. Lumen had told Trace about a possible Shade infection, but Trace didn't know what to do; he knew how to capture Shade creatures, but not how to cure someone. The two lived in isolation until Lumen fell very ill, into a delirious state, and Trace came to his wits' end and went searching for help. He eventually stumbled upon the paladin Dreamweaver, who he begged to help him. Dreamweaver agreed and traveled back to the twins' lair, where he exorcised the Shade from Lumen.
Upon questioning, Trace learned that Dreamweaver was of a mercenary clan. Trace was contemplating asking if he could join the clan, temporarily or permanently, to repay the paladin for saving Lumen's life. The final decision was made when Lumen, taken with curiosity about the art of exorcism, traveled out to the Meteoric Mercenary Clan himself...
