As the Director of Shade Management and Control, Conrad is tasked with keeping the Shifting Expanse safe from the ever growing threat of the shade. His agency is dedicated to the research of the shade and the creation of new technologies in order to fight and destroy it. The concept of shade containment in Lightning is a strange one, as unlike the Southern Icefields, the Shifting Expanse is insistent on swiftly destroying anything that shows traces of the shade.

Conrad is a humble and nervous dragon, but manages to keep his small agency in line. He has had an intense fascination with the shade since his hatchlinghood, so his current position came quite naturally to him.
