Caywa
"Tragedy can turn the things we love into the things we fear."

Sociable, patient, and disciplined, Caywa has no interest in money and the economy. However, her love for Tythael is so that she will listen to her mate's ramblings about his work for hours on end, since she knows how much it excites him. She spends most of her time on the ground, only flying when absolutely necessary, and only doing so low to the ground for short periods of time. She cannot fly without the aid of her prosthetic, and prefers to remain earthbound where she is more agile and comfortable. Caywa spends most of her days socializing with the other dragons in town, and is seen by many as a source of wisdom and comfort. Many confide in her and rely on her encouragement to help them through their own struggles. Caywa has a particular fondness for other dragons with physical disabilities, like herself. These dragons find hope in her optimism and determination to make the most of her situation in life, despite her restrictions. She finds joy in providing companionship for those who have lost hope, or who feel burdened by their own physical limitations.

| Caywa was once a skilled fighter, despite the usual cowardly nature of pearlcatchers. She hated the stereotypical values of her people, and was determined to buck tradition. After years of being rejected, she finally achieved ranks among an esteemed battalion. She was the only pearlcatcher in a kingdom of guardians and imperials, though her reputation as one of the most devastating warriors in the army soon flooded through the ranks. She was calm and cool in battle, never hesitating to make difficult snapshot decisions. Though she fought many much greater in size than her, she could outsmart and outfly even the strongest of warriors. In a devastating turn of events, she was framed for conspiring against the king, and had no allies to defend her honor. She was to be exiled, and although she intended to leave peacefully, she was deceived and ambushed by the royal guard. For the first time in her life, she fled. She hated to yield to the hurtful stereotypes of her species, and despised the fact that she satisfied her enemies assumptions, but she knew she had no choice if she wanted to survive. A storm soon formed, and she was struck from the sky by a sudden bolt of lightning. The next morning she found herself within a cave, her wing permanently damaged. She wouldn't be able to fly for years, and even then she would never be able to do so very well. This doesn't matter to her, as she avoids flying for fear of being struck down as she had before. Preferring to stay on the ground, she still tremors at the sound of thunder. |
