Lore

Nomad yawned. This was boring. He hated school. The teacher, a pearlcatcher rambled on and on. He would probably die and rot before she even finished. "Excuse me, may I please go to the restroom?" He asked politely. "Yes, but hurry. We have MORE work!!" She replied. He crept out into the hall. The bathroom was on the right, he knew that, but he didn't really need to go. Slowly, he dashed across the doorway of the classroom for the older dragons, praying that no one saw him. He founded the front door and eased it open, cringing when the rusty hinge creaked. Then he ran outside. Freedom! He breathed in the fresh air. Now where should he go play? He should at least hide. The teacher would probably suspect something when he was gone for too long. He skipped around, ruffling around his wings. He was taking flight class, which was one of the most important classes for young hatchlings. It was also Nomad's favorite class. It was not boring, and the teacher, a skydancer, was always fun and not-boring. He whistled a happy tune. Maybe he could practice here. He loved flying. Or, at his age, tumbling through the air for 5 seconds until they dropped onto a padded mat. But Nomad was a dreamer, and he always watched the adults soar with starry eyes. Nomad crouched, ruffling his wings again. He could do this! Everyone said that he wings were pretty, and then his mother would remind them that they were also strong when he was born. Nomad rubbed his necklace, a gift from his grandma. It was a little glowing stone. When he asked his grandma what it was, she laughed and told him he would know when he most needed it. Nomad always suspected it was some sort of meteorite. It was cool, so Nomad decided to keep it on. Over time, it kinda became his lucky charm. Suddenly, a deep voice growled. "Well well, what do we have here? The descendant of that arrogant gen 1," the voice said again. Nomad whimpered and tried to melt into the shadows. Unfortunately, that is not easy when you have light blue wings. Suddenly, he felt a sack being thrown onto his head. Nomad thrashed around and shook his horns. Nomad felt angry. At this dragon, because he was hurting someone. At himself, because he was supposed to be safe in the classroom, bored to death, yes, but surely it was better than being kidnapped! Nomad felt his rage growing. As the dragon dragged him away, his talons flew to his necklace by instinct. He rubbed it and softly chanted a verse he was sure he had never heard before. What was he doing? Suddenly there was a deep rumbling. Nomad twisted and thrashed, but he could not see because of the sack. Suddenly, the kidnapper dropped his bag. There was a short scream. When the sack was lifted, Nomad screamed himself. Water sprites? What were they doing? The one in front stepped foward. "Greetings, master. We are the tribe of the water sprites. We have served your family line from the start of time. We have sworn to protect you, descendant of Naomi. Rub your rock to release us back home, until the next time you need our assistance." Nomad spotted the kidnapper, a nocturne, helplessly tied up with rope. Nomad rubbed the stone. When the sprites were gone, he decided to go back to class. School was never going to be boring again!
