Biography
Apolitical, amoral, ambiguous, amorphous - Wodashni is a lot of things you can't pin down. Once upon a time he was a travelling magician. Then again, once upon a time, he was also a tundra. And before that, at the start of it all, a spiral. Perhaps the best label is alchemist.
He wants to test what magic can do, wants to push the limits, wants to transform and transmute and transgress the laws of so-called physics. He wants to dissect scrolls. He wants to force elemental magic to be used by those who weren't born to that element. He wants to push the limits of change as far as they can possibly go, and perhaps, create something entirely new. He wants radical, unnerving change.
He is closer to his goals than the others know.
He is the reason for Edmund's rebirth. He understands that what he has done could be considered the most horrifying of taboos, if anyone learns the truth.
He would be safer from scrutiny if he had been able to resist the temptation to try his new magicks on himself. He could not. He abandoned his old body for that of a fae, born of Shadow Flight.
In his former body, when he was named Shadow, he had a partner. They produced children. It isn't clear to what degree they loved each other, as opposed to loving their overlapping obsessions. When Frejya went to serve Wingsinger, and her goals no longer matched with his, Shadow withdrew and became even more obsessed with his search.
He has made his way back to this clan he calls home under the guise of being the apprentice of his former self. Shadow left letters before his change, explaining that he was "going to join Frejya and serve the Windsinger", and that his apprentice, Wodashni, was taking on Shadow's role for the clan.
The other major obstacle to his plans is a weblike, crimson irritation that is spreading across his wings. It has altered his face enough that he feels the need to wear a mask as he searches for a cure. He suspects that his constant meddling with states of being are leaving their mark.
If any dragon in the clan wants to be changed from one breed to another, one gene to another, this is the dragon they see.
An assortment of items grace the desk in Wodashi's library - the tent where he spends most of his time, among piles and piles of books and scrolls, with an ornate carpet in the centre and his desk atop the carpet.
The tent is as big as it needed to be when he was a spiral, and yet, feels exactly the right size.
