Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this magical Spiral wandered a little too far from her home lair (grxndsxn, 437722), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. Please refrain from exalting her!

Important note: Please only trade this dragon on travelling dragon threads, as opposed to places such as the Auction House.

Nia would like to receive a permanent home someday, so if you'd like to adopt her after she’s been travelling long enough, just let her owner know!

Biography:

Nia wanted to be an assassin as a dragonet, and trained for quite some time to become one, but discovered that she really doesn't care enough to kill people for money. She decided to use her skills for good instead. At least, that's what she says. You'll find she's a lot more interested in doing "good" when she has a bit of gold in the offing. Or more than a bit. Who's to say? Anyways, if you've found yourself or someone else in a sticky situation, Nia will gladly help out (purely for the sake of doing good deeds). Her menacing demeanor is a holdover from her days to training to be an evil minion, but she finds it surprisingly useful when recommending that she be given a bit of a reward for her selfless actions. Entirely selfless. What a paragon of kindness she is.

Pulsing runes moved across her scales, matching the shifting patches of darkness on her wings. Her tail swished measuredly across the floor as she waited silently. The ticking clock on the wall behind her at last fell silent as her tail came to a halt.

"Bei?" she inquired, sharp red eyes meeting the darting blue of the small silhouette in front of her.
The dragon nodded quickly, making a clear effort to keep his frills folded. "Mm-hmm," Bei responded. Fear had made itself at home in his voice and his talons trembled slightly as he spoke.

She sighed mentally. "I'm not going to hurt you," she said in a voice that was almost reassuring, but her annoyance crept into her tone and Bei shrunk back farther. "Bei, work with me here. Why on earth would I harm you? You've got a whole family who'd be after my neck in a heartbeat. Is it the red eyes? It's usually the red eyes. Bei, stop backing away and come here."

Bei took a few steps closer, but didn't look particularly reassured. "What do you want?" he asked carefully.

"Your brother's in trouble, yes?"

"How did you know-"

"Well, last I checked, he was trapped in a huge sand pit full of creeping dragonstalks that will eventually stick to his wings, drag him down, wait for him to drown in the river down there, and then consume him like a bunch of giant hungry Venus flytraps. Am I right on that?"

The tiny fae was starting to look very ill now. Well, it's not her problem that he can't stomach a bit of dismemberment. "I- y-yes... I guess."

"And, if I'm not mistaken, you can't get him out, can you?"

"W-well- I'm not very big- ...but I can hardly fly yet... and Miaw and I were the only ones small enough to fit into the sand pit..."

She raised her head, unwinding her thin coils and flaring her wings, rather theatrically, but Bei seemed impressed. Or was he scared? Aaugh. Dragonets. She tilted her face sideway, met Bei's eyes, and she smiled.

"I think I could manage."

Nia spent a few uneventful but profitable months in Clan Mavenlark, working part-time for the clan's ever-expandign guard. It was good pay and free food - as well as a direct in for many of the member's more private affairs. She could have been weighed down by all of the gold she made, and once her contract with the clan ended, she made a mental note to return again one day.
