An Ancient and proud dragon, Hokorashī has been King over all Dragons since times immemorial. Along with his mate he had 9 sons, each a different hue of the rainbow, and each wielding one of the Parents' elemental magics; a few of the sons even managed to inherit more than one power from their parents, and Bachi, the runt, had initially shown no magical prowess whatsoever.

Hokorashī can be described as an almost stereotypical depiction of a dragon, embodying pride and wealth, rule and egoism. His personality is also rather cruel and mocking, especially towards Serpents, whom he considers to be a "slave race" and extemely inferior to Ryū.

Bachi was his ninth son, born as the runt of his litter of nine brothers. Immediately, his father took a great dislike and offense towards the small hatchling, and soon his own siblings turned against him as well. The hatred got so severe that Bachi was forced to run away, lest he wanted to die in abandonment, or worse- by the claws of his own family. He later found refuge in the Snake's Kingdom- Ryūchi Cave- and he was taken in as an adopted son by their leader, Hakuja Senju, the Great White Serpent. After that, Hokorashī took no interest in the young dragon, yet he was yet again forced to face him when, years later, he returned and challenged him.
