"Though you are lovely, my heart belongs to another..." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Born of the union of light Imperials, Lief was the son that the pair had prayed for the gods to give. Sweet-natured and honorable, of pure blood and prepared to eventually succeed their noble father. He was not the only son, however; he was the younger brother of an illegitimate half-sibling by the name of Lokir. Though his parents, his imperious father especially, tried to keep the two apart, Lief was greatly fond of his older brother, and the two bonded in secrecy. His childhood passed by like a dream, with the young Imperial wrapped up in endless practice and lessons and highborn posturing. However, Lief's entire world found itself gone astray when his older brother abruptly fled, removing himself from the line of succession and leaving Lief utterly alone with his parents and tutors. Downtrodden by the absence of the brother that he admired, and dispirited with the news of his recently announced betrothal, Lief threw himself into his studies as a paladin - a choice his parents and his new mate were less than pleased with. However, Lief maintained hope that his older brother would return one day to reclaim his position as heir, and perhaps lifting the burden of marriage to a mate he had no passions for. In his own time, Lief also found himself wandering from his homeland, half on a holy quest to uphold his vows as a fully-fledged paladin, and half on the search for Lokir. When reunited with his brother, at first things appeared to to be fine - Lokir seemed to have kept himself in good spirits through the years apart. But, despite his haste to ignore it, Lief was quick to realize his brother's delve into crime, hedonism and other unsavory behaviors. Still, he tried to reach out and keep watch over his brother, hoping one day his sibling might return to the light. |
