Pureblood Construct
Palos's egg was created by filling a shell of specially treated bone with Wahydra's blood. The artisan Verthandi created this shell with a motif of Geometric Patterns. The shell was then sealed and invigorated with a spark of energy taken from Harkin's internal engines. When he was hatched, the bone shell was incorporated into the new dragon's body, becoming the heavy defensive plates which fortify his back, legs, and skull, as well as his claws and teeth. The result was the stunning sanguine guardian, Palomedes. A dragon of animated blood with impenetrable bony plates to protect his graceful, flowing body.

Next Chapter
The newly animated contruct travelled far and wide, seeking-- as all Guardians do-- the thing he was meant to protect. But he couldn't find the connection, couldn't find the purpose. He began to fear that he didn't have one. He turned his sights back towards the Wasteland. Perhaps he was never meant to leave home?

On his way back, he came into contact with an odd sort of fungus. Being a construct, he hadn't thought such a thing would threaten him-- and yet it infected him, quickly spreading under his boney plates and through his blood. It didn't claim his mind, but he could feel it eating away at his body.

He wandered the Wasteland. He could feel the mushrooms growing within him, but he accepted his fate... Until he was found by a frail, boney skydancer who looked him up and down.

"Would you like some help with that?" Mirfak asked.

The healer brought Palomedes back to his den. Rather than removing the fungus, Mirfak used magic ot shape it. He used the blood and energy that had created Palomedes in a spell, which halted the spread of the fungus. The fungus then fused to his armored plates, making him even more powerful than he was before.

As he looked up at the healer's careful smile, the construct felt a spark... And realized he'd found what he was meant to protect.
