Biography
He'd been wandering for ages, having left the last clan with intent. Born of the light, he had many a dragon tell him that for one of his birth, such dark colors (the starry night of covered moons) was almost poetically backwards. And so his quest. Go, go to the land from which, at some point, he was born. Light's domain, as it happens, was reached most directly from the Earth Domain by traversing straight through the Tangled Woods. Here, in the Shadowbinder's realm, dark colors such as his were an aid. It was his luck, he thought, and the colors which helped him blend in, which allowed for such an easy passage, relatively speaking of course. His supplies were cut well in half long before he expected them to be, and it was likely that his attempts to be courteous to those he met, and share what he had, were the culprit, along with failing to be quite as clever as some of the denizens of the Woods. (It only took a few games before he realized that refusing was his best option, so he counted himself well educated by the time he was clearing the borders.)
It also happened, that on his last night as a traveler in the Tangled woods, he decided that the distance to the Sunbeam Ruins was sooooo close, that if he did not sleep that night but pressed on, he might just be in time to reach the Ruins the next day. He did in fact make it to the Ruins at some point in the night, but when, he could not have said, and would not be able to tell anyone later. The reason being this: at some time in the night, as he traveled through the dense tangle of trees and thicket, clouds covered the moon and stars which he used as guides. With such a short ways left, he thought he might be ok if only he pressed on, keeping as best he could in what he thought was the right direction. And so when he broke free of the most dense trees, traveled a few hours up, up, up, over the flat plains only to find a raging thunder storm upon him, he was utterly unprepared. The sun should be rising soon! He was reaching the land of sunbeams and shadows, but open to the air. The image in his mind of the Ruins was one of safety and hope, but as the winds lashed at him, he wondered if it wasn't some terrible mistake. And Lightweaver, did she indeed rule these lands? This was more what the Stormcatcher would greet one of his own with, was it not? Perhaps it was some neighborly infighting? A "hello" as phrased for a deity?
As he struggled onwards, unwilling to turn back to the Woods with their tangled web of tricks and confusion, he depleted what was left of his energy. Giving in to his exhaustion, the Imp found a decently sized rock, and looking up found it quite tall. Tall enough to block the wind, somewhat, and the rain, somewhat. It would do, and so he curled up, tight as he could, to conserve and regain some strength for the rest of his journey. That night, as he slept, the storm raged on. Lightning indeed was present, and it found, in the wide plains and fields, a good place to touch down in that piller the Imp had mistaken for a rock. Laced with metals and reflective materials, the pillar called the energy towards itself, and little by little, built up such a charge that it passed to the Imp, curled as he was to its side.
He made it through the storm, and woke to find not a trace of it in sight, but just as the storm had taken his energy, it gave him something new. A name, to go with his new appearance, and a story to bring with him. And so Lightning arrived after his travels, in the Sunbeam Ruins, seeking the truth of his home land, and found more than he bargained for.
(And finally he felt that he looked just a little more like a Light dragon in the process.)
