He had travelled this land for so long, his true name had been lost to time, like a
heat-misted breath on a winter day. He was only known as The Plague; for around these parts, you are what you reap and you reap what you sow. No matter where The Plague went, death and decay followed; crops would wither and die, and the very Earth would crumble beneath his feet.
Some say he was a mercenary before a piece of the Plaguebringer's
soul warped his mind, others claim he was a power-greedy ruler that made a pact with the gods to ravage his enemies' domains; either way, The Plague was a force to be reckoned with. Mothers would hurriedly usher their hatchlings indoors anytime word came through that he was near. Hatchlings would only speak of him in hushed whispers, daring each other to leave the safety of their clans, if only for a moment, just to see if The Plague would come and snatch them up. Scholars across Sornieth have been seeking for centuries for an explanation as to just what The Plague truly is, but even the most ancient of tomes in the darkest and most forgotten libraries only have one piece of information about him: to stay away.
