LAMMERGEIRA
Wandering Huntress
Though born into an Ice clan whose name has long since been forgotten, Lammergeira seems to boast the hotheadedness of a Fire dragon, and the brutal, winner-take-all fight tactics of a Plague-born. Those unfortunate enough to encounter her in the wild are likely to find her dripping with the blood and gore of any number of recent hunts. Thankfully for everyone involved, she (usually) has the good sense not to attack fellow dragons, instead winding and contorting her lithe body into hiding to lie in wait for more manageable prey. On the rare occasions that her ambushes fail, or in the event of a more widespread famine, she's been known to resort to scavenging carrion and other clans' abandoned kills, a fact which she reveals to no one. The peculiarities of her returns to camp are also a subject of frequent discussion, as she seems to be accompanied by a new familiar each time, no doubt as a result of her general willingness to let the famished share in her feast. Furthermore, she'll always bring back some sort of weighty, mostly intact corpse for the clan's food stores; much to the confusion and curiosity of clan record keepers like Cetus and his mate Echidna, the majority of the fallen creatures are unfamiliar to them and all other clan members. Despite her savage nature while out on the hunt, Lammergeira is polite while in camp, and actually puts an almost inordinate amount of time and energy into her appearance. One of her most prized possessions is the set of shiny golden armor she wears both at home and in the wild, which she received from Viridris as a thank you for all of the animal pelts she'd brought to the Fae for use in apparel. Though the plating gets plenty messy while she's fighting, cleaning it and polishing it to its usual sheen is always one of the first things Lammergeira does upon returning home. This is usually followed by a more leisurely preening session. More recently, Poseidon has convinced the female to take some of his more promising trainees out into the wild with her, a task which she's not entirely enthusiastic about, as she usually sees others as more of a liability than anything else. Most of those who have trained with her are similarly unenthusiastic- though they've no doubt learned a great deal, the Wildclaw tends to be quite the harsh taskmistress. Nonetheless, she does her part to repay the Shadowbinder's generosity in providing her with prey by ensuring that the exaltees she trains will be ready for action.  Art by Cronass, #79193. |
