Two lone, abandoned eggs laid at the foot of a large tree, its branches looming over the surrounding area, casting a shadow over the eggs. The luminescent blue leaves covered the several egg shards of the arcane element that were scattered around. Only two managed to survive- one unscathed, the other one cracked and badly damaged. A small snout pierced the shell of the intact egg. Small fractures scattered around it, expanding into a decently sized gap. A bright purple fae slithered out of the egg, its slimy scales glittering in the moonlight. It spread its small wings for the first time and surveyed the surrounding woods with a feeling of dread. She was only just born, but she could tell something was wrong. The young hatchling turned to the damaged egg, nudging it and begging it to hatch. But the egg only remained still. The egg’s broken surface glittered tauntingly at her, and her disappointed reflection gazed at her as well. Just as she was about to give up, it twitched a bit, stopping her in her tracks, and then it slowly broke to reveal a battered black fae hatchling.

Shadowmist and her sister Amethyst were the sole survivors of their clan after a large monster attack. Amethyst was a newborn hatchling that dragged a severely damaged egg to a small hiding spot, and Shadowmist was born shortly after, and was weak and scarred due to the condition of her egg. They survived on their own for a couple of days, and were then found by dragons who were tracking the monsters. The dragons brought them into their own clan, where the two fae sisters were taught how to fight. Shadowmist was a clever fighter, while Amethyst was the strongest. During their time in the clan, they became friends with two other dragons named Ravenseeker and Redwing. Ravenseeker often spent his time with a guardian named Flatwoods, who they often teased him about, and Redwing was a calm and collected dragon who was easy to get along with. Shadowmist grew to be an adult, and she lived a happy life. She became mates with Redwing as well. Everything was wonderful until one fateful day where her world shattered. She’d gone for a walk, and upon returning, found Amethyst bleeding out. To her shock, Ravenseeker was standing over her, his claws undeniably stained with her beloved sister’s blood. He stared at Shadowmist with cold, dark eyes that didn’t fit him at all, claiming his new name was now Shadeseeker. For the first time, she wanted another dragon dead, her rage coupling with a strange energy that came from Amethyst’s corpse. She felt her soul mixing with Amethyst’s somehow. He was a liar, a traitor, and he wasn’t even the friend she knew anymore. With Amethyst’s strength, Shadowmist nearly clawed his eyes out as he fled. He managed to get away, however. Vengeance would have to wait a long time. She trained herself harder, and received permission from the clan elders to start her own clan with Redwing. They never thought they’d see Shadeseeker again, until they spotted him near their territory years later. The guards of her clan to this day watch their surroundings with utmost precision, aware that he’s a slippery and hard dragon to catch that their leader despises. To this day, she still has yet to catch him, but her newfound patience from Amethyst’s soul will wait for him, and Shadowmist’s own bloodlust coupled with her sister’s desire for justice will find out what he’s truly become and put a stop to his madness for good.
