Chai was unintentionally one of the first members of Darkwood Clan. Caught up in the fallout of Panacea’s previous clan’s usurpation, Chai was only a few days old when she witnessed her father and mother head out for war- and they never returned to her. Alone, frightened, and confused, she gazed out at the empty lands, looking for someone, anyone, to help her. Days passed, and Chai was giving up hope, when suddenly in the distance she spotted a Coatl bolting for the forest.

Though weakened, Chai stumbled to her feet and did her best to follow. The coatl led her deep into the Viridian Labyrinth, the lush greenery like nothing she’d ever seen before. It was only when Panacea stopped to rest, that Chai managed to stumble into sight. Panacea immediately took the young imperial under her wing, nurturing her like a mother, and raised her into the dragon she is today.

Through her upbringing, Chai is a fierce Darkwood loyalist, and would defend the clan to the death if she had to. She is the first to speak to new members, desperate to ensure their fealty to her adoptive mother. Her relationships with the dragons of Backwood is tense- she despises their refusal to cohabit with the main clan, and questions their loyalty to Darkwood. She disapproves of their shady activities, and if she had it her way, she’d banish them completely. However, she would never betray Panacea, so she simply lets it lie for now.
