You cannot find Odal on nights like these, when the insects are quiet and the cold autumn wind rustles the fields. He wanders the forest then, drags his hands against the black bark of hundred-year-old trees, and whispers in a language that's foreign but familiar. He speaks to his Ancestor, a figure only he can see, that has been with him since he was a hatchling.

His mother, the queen, has a lineage that's been carefully recorded for generations. But his father, the consort, hails from lands unknown. This is the lineage from which the Ancestor speaks; something powerful and sleeping, missing but not yet erased.
