Gintan

Right out of his egg, everyone was very aware of the fact that little Gintan was going to prosper in the field of all food related things. He wasn't a picky eater as a child, per se, but it was very clear that he knew what he wanted and liked by simply smelling it- and, given his breed and their similarity to snakes, Gintan's greatest skill became just this: the ability to smell and taste simultaneously with just a flick of his tongue over the food. He used this for fun at first, other hatchlings daring him to guess what he was "tasting" with his eyes closed and him guessing 8 out of 10 times accurately. Over time, as he grew, his clan thought that this skill of his would be practically indispensable to assure their safety; if he could train his skill further, sharpen and polish it, Gintan would be able to "taste" poisons and other harmful substances in food before anyone had to consume them and possibly fall ill.

Gintan, now an adult, still hones this skill of his each day, albeit in a far more professional environment, with equipment and food that many (including himself not oso long ago) have never even dreamed of being real. Nothing served in the clan goes out without his say, as he is the last line of quality check they've got, and, should this be ignored, they all risk consuming food that might've been tampered with by the wrong individuals...

Gintan himself is a very charismatic and lovable Coatl, with a love of food and bright personality it's just near impossible to dislike him. He's always coming up with new recipes and flavor combinations, and most of his favorites happened by accident- all it takes is for a few ingredients to find themselves in the same little area together, and his tongue flicks pick up on their unique "taste" combo before they're even implemented into a meal. And, while he CAN be stern at times (particularly with people that disrespect food or his craft), he's always eager to help other dragons with their dietary needs, easily coming up with combinations to refill what their diet might be lacking, or requiring.
