Taken from the nest by his sire, an old man who cared nothing for hatchlings not like him, moments after he hatched, Koa's birthright was war. He was raised in a roving bandit clan, raiding the homes of more settled peoples for what they needed - or wanted - and taught to fight as soon as he could stand. The competition among his peers was fierce growing up; many did not survive to adulthood, but the clan could be sure that those who did were the most ruthless and cunning of the pack.

That clan is gone now, only remembered by the few scattered survivors fled to the winds. None among those allowed to escape know the truth of why the clan fell apart, know why the clan leaders never returned from what should have been a simple raid. The ones who puzzled it out never made it out of the camp. Nevertheless, in some circles, the young one who returned when his elders did not is called Kinslayer.

Koa is not a Crow, though many mistake him for one at first glance. He has nearly the correct coloring, and he's every bit as big as they are, with the strength and attitude to match. But he's not even vaguely related. This mistake, though understandable, has earned him the sinister nickname most know him by, one whispered in dark corners as he passes. Raven, he is called. It is fitting he supposes, for a wanderer flitting along the shadow of battlefields hunting the survivors.

With his father's sins settled, Koa moved on in search of the scant tales he had heard of his mother and the nest-siblings he had never known.

What he found, and what he did there as a result is not worth repeating in polite company. The slights against him - real or imagined - he dealt with as he always has, as he has been trained to do, and what was left behind was discarded as of little value, not even worth his time. Tradition hurts those on the fringes, no matter where those boundaries lie. The one connection to family that remains, he has never managed to track down, despite years of searching and asking questions.

Koa came to Ahnraeth quite by accident, and despite that his egg was laid here, he did not hatch here, and he suffered the magic of the realm once he stepped through the threshold. The changes wrought upon him were sudden and have been irreversible.

He decided to remain in the aftermath, finding no personal history but an odd kinship with the other warriors of the clan, both the honorable warriors and the cunning rogues. While his ability might lend to it, he does not train the clan's young warriors, worried that he might hand down his own experience to his students. Instead, he finds himself forming in patrols and exploration teams, keeping the nearby lands of Sornieth safe.
