Horacio: The Bookworm
Horacio is the most knowledgeable in all the clan, having an actual library as his home. He wasn’t always like this though. He used to be naïve, aggressive, and stubborn. But something happened that changed his whole perspective. He strives to let books be his guide now instead of his gut.
On one sunny day young Horacio was playing with his friends with his parents nearby, what a normal hatchling does. The thing is, Horacio wasn’t just some normal hatchling, he had a gift inherited by his parents, a very special gift. He can fold time, or wrinkle it, to be exact.

Horacio took great pride in his ability and would usually show it off to his friends. However, on this day, Horacio took it too far. He was trying to show off something that even the grown ups had trouble doing- stopping time. He took a great risk, all because of pride, and failed miserably. Moments after failing to stop time, Horacio knew there was something terribly wrong when he opened his eyes to find that he was in a baby’s body?! He awoke to find his parents holding and looking at him. Then his aunt comes in and says, “what a beautiful baby!” Horacio tried talking to them, telling them he’s from a different time, but he was just a babe, he couldn’t speak yet. He screamed and screamed for their help, but it only came across as a baby crying. They gently pat him and rock him to sleep. Hopefully, this nightmare will be over. It was far from it.

Horacio had to relearn how to walk, talk, write, everything from scratch. Until that day finally came. It was one sunny day, and Horacio was playing with his fellow time tot friends. He tried explaining to them what happened those years ago, but to no avail. They didn’t believe him. He didn’t care though; he was happy to just be caught up in the time he belonged. He relievedly went to bed that night. But this nightmare was far from over. He awoke as a baby in his mothers’ arms again?! Now he understood what he did wrong, he trapped himself into a time loop.
With time, once again Horacio relearned how to walk, talk, read, and write. And once again, it was a beautiful sunny day, Horacio was out playing with his friends. Hut all he was focused on was getting out of this time loop, he tried concocting a portal to free him, but it didn’t work. All those years, relearning how to walk, talk, read, write, were wasted in that one day.
The next thing he tried doing was talking to his parents, as soon as he relearned how to talk, he told them everything. They thought he was crazy. For the rest of that time, they kept a close eye on him, making sure he didn’t get himself into any trouble. And that sunny beautiful day came and gone.

He wakes up to his baby self in his mother’s arms, his aunt walks in and says what a beautiful baby he is, right on cue. Horacio was a fighter, just like his whole family, he wasn’t going to let this time loop be the rest of his life. So, for years and years, time loops upon time loops, Horacio studied what would happen if he did something else or tried something different. He finally, after relearning things some 20 times, came up with a plan. Horacio goes to bed, still hopeful something, or someone, will be able to help him.
Horacio wakes up to him in his mothers arms, he will admit, no matter how many times he relives this moment, he could never get tired of that caring, beautiful expression his mother first gives him when he’s first born. It refreshes and gives him hope. Horacio gives a little giggle, knowing all too well when he does that his mothers expression will be prolonged for a couple more second before his aunt walks in. Once again, Horacio relearns things. But this time is different, as soon as Horacio relearns to walk, he sneaks out and starts his long trek to his grandmother, Allison. He knows he won’t be able to talk for a few more years, but he must start his trek now before its too late. His grandmother might still be able to help him. After some years, he’s finally able to find his grandmother Allison. He’s done this trek in the past, but he’s never made it fully to his grandmother since she’s constantly moving. He’s just starting to relearn words, but they are still basic. He can’t explain to his grandma what happened in full sentences. Still, Allison will never turn down a distressed looking child who’s her own daughters’ son. Allison stopped by when Horacio was little, so she knows its him. She looks at him, eyes full of comfort and worry, and says, “What’s wrong Horacio? How did you find me? Or travel such a long distance?!” Horacio tries telling her, but blurts out one word, “T-time” It’ll still be a year before he can talk in full sentences. Allison replies saying, “What? You want to learn about time?” Close enough, Horacio thinks to himself. Even though he wasn’t chosen to train as a Time tot professionally, the other Rifters were impressed by him travelling such a long distance and decided to start training him. He then learned to talk a lot quicker, thus telling Allison what happened and giving her a proper amount of time to prove its true. Once again, it was that same sunny day he experienced all those years ago, but this time he wasn’t playing with his friends, instead, he was in a lab, with countless scientists and Rifters trying to figure out how to get him out of the loop before the end of the day. Etufesh bursts in, lab coat in hand, and experiments on Allison and Horacio together. They ended up opening a portal, and Horacio alone is supposed to walk through. He did, and the problem was finally fixed! He woke up to his normal body, in his normal bed. He vowed to never allow himself to make decisions like that again, but to take wisdom from books. Since then, he learned about all sorts of things from books, and became known as Horacio, the bookworm.
He could still wrinkle time, but he hasn’t tried in awhile because of that traumatic experience. But a certain Petalbreeze is teaching him that its ok, comforting him and letting him know that will never happen again.
