There's something about him, Carbon thinks, that really unsettles her.
Maybe it's the way his face looks skeletal, or the way his wings are ragged like burnt parchment, or that his hands are glowing bright hot yellow.
Or maybe its the fact that something molten keeps leaking from his mouth, from his body. The way birds of smoke and flame form and twist away from him.
It's swelteringly hot in the caverns below Sanctum Bay, and the heat from Ignis has made the walls turn to glass. Carbon thinks that, had she not shorn her fur, she would've passed out from heatstroke. Or maybe this is the lowest heat Ignis can do.
Finally, after an eternity of waiting in the boiling cavern, Ignis speaks, voice oozing out like the glowing lava from his mouth.
"I do believe we've found an heir..."
Carbon wishes herself luck.
