In the depths of the realm, where shadows danced and darkness reigned, there stood a figure whose mere presence sent shivers down the spines of those who dared approach. Thanatos, a dragon of formidable size and a countenance as cold as the void, possessed an aura that made his fellow dragons tread cautiously in his presence. With piercing eyes that held a hint of melancholy, he seemed content to be left alone, disinterested in the trivialities of social interaction among his kin.

Yet, nestled within the heart of Thanatos's forbidding exterior lay a flicker of warmth that only one could ignite—his mate, Belladonna. In her presence, his icy demeanor melted away like snowflakes meeting the sun. He became a different dragon entirely, displaying tenderness and unwavering devotion that took even Belladonna by surprise. Their bond was forged in a realm untouched by the fearsome reputation Thanatos bore, a realm of love and understanding that blossomed in the darkest corners of their shared existence.

Despite Belladonna's earnest attempts to bridge the gap between Thanatos and their fellow dragons, the wall he had built around himself remained unyielding. The mere thought of opening up to others sent a ripple of discomfort through his being, and he retreated further into his solitude. It was not out of disdain or malice, but a deep-rooted fear that vulnerability would be met with rejection. And so, Thanatos chose to exist within the sanctuary of his mate's embrace, finding solace in the rare moments when he allowed his true self to be witnessed.
