Kagura San
"You're a natural at this."
⚥ | festival organizer Previously a trainer for gladiators in the Coliseum, San earned the title "Demon Instructor" for her strictness and ferocity. She carries herself with an air of power and authority, respected and feared by foes and trainees alike. In recent years, however, she has put aside her weapons in favor of devoting herself to the fire festival she loves so much. Together with her mate, Miyuri, San helps organize her home clan’s festival celebrations: she plans and instructs the music and dances, while Miyuri manages the decorations and currency. She’s a skilled dancer herself, and excels at playing traditional Wind Flight drums. Her serious, drill-sergeant-like personality and towering, burly frame may give her an intimidating air, but outside of the battlefield, she is actually quite approachable. By the same coin, the powerful aura she exudes provides a sense of comfort-- she's the only one who can soothe Miyuri when the Gaoler has one of her panic attacks, and she always seems to know just when someone could use a shoulder to lean on. Part of the reason why San is so gentle with Miyuri is because she, too, knows what it's like to be afraid of everything. Back when she was a hatchling, she was painfully timid, easily frightened to the point of tears. Throughout her youth, she pushed herself very hard to outgrow that and become stronger and braver. Her efforts paid off, for what it's worth; she's a completely different dragon than she once was. Unfortunately, she was so hard on herself that now she has a difficult time letting herself cry or even relax... Miyuri tries to make sure that San knows it's okay to not be strong all the time. Rumor has it that she has a playful, almost childish side around those she trusts deeply enough. Only her closest friends and family have ever seen her like that, though. San adamantly insists that these rumors are blasphemous; she is not childish in the least. (But she does get a little giddy inside when someone offers her one of her favorite snacks.) Miyuri - mate A dwarf Gaoler who San met at a community group in their hometown in Wind's Millmeadows in their teenage years. San always thought Miyuri was cute, but truly fell for her when she came across Miyuri practicing a dance by herself in the moonlight. They've been nearly inseparable ever since. When nobody else is around, San is very affectionate with Miyuri, doting on her with gentle nuzzles and kind words. She's rather shy about expressing her feelings in public, though, so she gets really flustered when Miyuri acts lovey-dovey with her in front of others. |

Asahi - mutual annoyance (friend?) The "shields" of their respective clans, San and Asahi have gone head-to-head several times before. They've largely set aside their differences for now, and are... sort of getting along? Or, rather, San enjoys trying to ruffle Asahi's feathers (an endeavor which frequently ends up working, much to the latter's chagrin). They do have a fair bit in common, however. Maybe one day they'll become friends for real. |
