The Bargainer
aggressive | sneaky | strict "We do not belong to this clan, we are simply keeping our promise to the leader. She tricked us into serving under her, though we are not sure how. My sister and I are messengers of death and we speak the truth to those who do not wish to hear it." Grissell is an ancient being who's existence is so long that her memories are limited. Her forms have shifted throughout the centuries, the longest one was that of a Mirror. She and her sister would travel from place to place, singing their songs to those who did not want to hear. She had supernatural powers. It seemed as if she could tell when a being was due to pass and would be there waiting. Her body possessed strength and agility that no other dragon could best. They feasted upon the soul of the passed. Grissell would absorb the knowledge of this world and how to survive, while her sister would take knowledge of the next world and magical things. It wasn't until they met Estel that their nomadic lifestyle was stopped. The leader approached them when one of her clan members was deathly ill. She tried to bargained with the two sisters to spare the dragon's life, but they were not interested. Estel requested that she be given an hour with the dying dragon before the two would be allowed to take their prey. The two agreed. When they returned, Estel stepped aside. Grissell, who seemed to feed upon death, rushed forward. Instantly, a bright light captured her. She had been turned into a Pearlcatcher. Her powers were trapped within the pearl and her body was feeble. Grissell hissed at Estel, enraged that a trick had been played on her. But she was much weaker than her previous body and she was temporarily immobilized. Estel stole the pearl away and gave it to the sick dragon. It glowed with an otherworldly aura. Confused and weakened, Grissell and her sister stayed on the edges of the camp while they planned their attack. The sick dragon recovered. Estel approached the sisters and claimed to want to returned the pearl. She promised the sisters protection for their service to her clan, but Grissell only laughed. There was no way that a mortal dragon could protect beings such as themselves. But the clan leader only smiled and placed a heavy claw on top of the pearl. A small crack formed in it. So the sisters agreed to be "in debt" to the class for their protection and provided Estel with counsel when she requested it. They mostly provide the clan with ancient remedies and stories, but always at a cost. No dragon dares enter the lair of the sisters without good reason. |
