"All things will come to an end."

From the beginning, he was aware he was not like the other gods that glowed around him with powers so strong it felt like he was being torn apart.

He was born clad in a form of spikes and smoke and stars, all darkness and claws. Shadows and pain. He did not have the magic that united the beings before him, did not have the ability to arrange suns or bend light.

But… he could take. He could destroy.

In the void, there was no scale except for the gods, and they’d been bound in forms that scaled them down, harnessing the unimaginable into physical reality. But Kandis was huge, more like a great wave that swept across the void, snuffing out the budding stars, raking in the waves of power that only grew stronger and hotter as he approached.

The builder turned to face him, keen awareness in his eyes. He lifted wings that shifted with colors, spread brave talons to block the young entities from the blow Kandis was preparing.

“You are not quite so different.” The builder says, and Kandis watches ever so carefully as the First One steps behind him, glowing so furiously with power that rears to strike, to snuff out The Darkness, and instead glances off. “Look to the brows of the ones I’ve built.”

Kandis looks. He becomes aware of each god having a crown upon their head, made of stars. Three upon each brow, and 3 constellations pointed his way as he paused, talons poised to shatter the delicate scales of the builder before him.

Carefully, the builder creates a shape, a replica of him in those tiny paws.

“Observe.” He says, and Kandis lowers his talons, because upon his own brow is that same crown of stars.

“No… how is this…. possible?” Kandis rasps, stepping backward uneasily. Though the First One tried to take him out and could not, being of similar make meant that he was just as breakable. Just as… weak.

He would never be taken down by something like them.

“I’d think again about that statement.” A new entity said, and Kandis turned to face the one he recognized as his other, lighter half.

He bared his teeth with a snarl that shook the cosmos.
