Far from the encampment, a tall tower sits atop a flowering hill. Nature takes back what is hers--ivy sprawls upwards on the mossy, cracked stone walls, and a small oak sapling grows from the dilapidated slate roof shingles. This is the Tower of Koralaen, the only remains of an ancient bastion. Here, Ynbei sits with their piles of tattered manuscripts, scribbling away in their journals. They are so focused, they do not notice the figure that shadows the doorway. A small creak from the rotting wood floors give the stranger away, and Ynbei's ears and head perk up.
"Who are you?" They ask.
"I could ask you the same thing," the stranger says as they step closer into the candlelight. "I figured this place would be empty."
Ynbei stares at the stranger in front of them, pondering whether or not to grab their makeshift knife from their satchels. This dragon was unlike anything they had seen: their fur was long and seemed soft to the touch, and the pattern of their coat reminded Ynbei of the night sky they would see through the large hole in the roof. The strange dragon carried themselves as though they were someone of importance, but Ynbei could not recall reading about them.
"Well, it is not. I ask again: who are you?" Ynbei says.
"Uzgaard. My ward and I live in the clearing below this hill. This seemed like the perfect place to set up my astronomy tower." The dragon replies.
Ynbei's eyes widened and they clutched the manuscript in their claws.
"You cannot take my workstation! I have to stay here and finish this manuscript or else the Lieutenant will send me to the front-lines!" They squeaked. Their heart pitter-pattered against their ribcage, threatening to break free.
Uzgaard looked at the tiny fae with sadness. The war had ended years ago. This 'lieutenant' was probably dead by now. Ynbei hadn't been told that they were free. He sighed.
"My friend, the war has been over for years." He said softly.
