B I O G R A P H Y

Technically the first of the Houses (there’s a lot of debate), Starseeker was founded by an old dragon who had come to serve the Arcanist and found it troubling that hatchlings generally ran amok. This dragon came together with a friend and together they founded the Houses Starseeker and Dreamstrider./size]

Starseeker focuses on what they consider the “pure” Arcane pursuit: astronomy. Starseekers are adept at tracking the night sky, and know by heart the many obscure astrological bodies, events, and rules that organize the skies of Sornieth. Despite this focus on Arcane purism, Starseekers also tend to be the most technologically oriented, studying electricity and magical mechanisms to serve them in their study and recording of the stars.[

_Starseeker_

____When the Observatory School of Magic and Astronomy was founded, there were no Houses within its walls, just dragons from across the Starfall Isles and beyond coming together to learn about the different aspects of Arcane magic. They all dedicated themselves to the pursuit of knowledge, seeking out the different forms and tomes that accompanied that knowledge. However, in the early years of the school’s founding, it became very clear that the students valued different types of magic. One faction argued that knowledge of the stars and space were the purest magic of Arcane, and therefore the only knowledge that should be pursued in the Academy. The other faction argued that the knowledge of the aethers, spells, and preserving all magical knowledge was both the purest magic within Arcane and the best path for the school as a whole.

____The arguments between students happened again and again, which led to them eventually splitting into two factions, later known as Houses: House Starseeker - the House of astronomers and inventors - and House Dreamstrider - the House of spellweavers and aetherworkers.Starseeker is said to have been founded by an elder dragon, their home flight lost to time, and its members claim it to be the oldest House (which is highly disputed by members of House Dreamstrider). Members of this House pursue what they consider to be the most exalted of Arcane pursuits: astronomy. They are widely considered experts at tracking the night sky, and well versed in even the most obscure of the astrological bodies and events that happen in the skies of Sornieth.

_House Lore_

____Though they are considered by some to be extreme about their views on what the purest Arcane pursuit is, they have created quite a conundrum for some, since they are also the House that is the most technologically aligned. They are frequently found with all manner of new pieces of equipment - courtesy of House Runesworn - that they use to study and record the night sky. Starseeker’s drive to observe eventually mutated into some of the younger members of the House wanting to experiment with the rules that had long been known to rule their world, wishing to understand them and learn how to perhaps change them. Most older members of Starseeker found this wish of their younger Housemates to be barbaric, and immediately sought to stamp out this line of questions and experiments. What they did not expect was for the younger members to argue back as to why they should be allowed to continue their experiments, even as they continued to be discouraged to abandon the idea.

____It’s rumored that even members of Dreamstrider became involved in the Starseeker Debate, joining both sides with their Starseeker brethren to try to bring the arguments to an end, though ultimately to no avail. As time went on, the House grew more divided, eventually leading to a new split in the Houses. Those who sought to study the kinds of experiments that were so looked down upon by their former Housemates formed the House known as Shatterspell - the House of experimentation and innovation.
