Shruikan is named after the mad black dragon stolen by King Galbatorix of Alagaesia. He isn't mad like his namesake, and the evidence is in his eyes. They burn bright with the colour of flames, not the cold and lifeless blue of the original.

Shruikan is in training at them moment to become a Kite trainer like Glaedr, Veritas and Riviere. He has a strong drive to succeed and will surely pass that onto his future students.

He feels a connection to Glaedr due to the common link of their namesakes. There used to be other dragons of Alagaesia, however, the call of adventure common to Wind dragons was too strong, and they left for other clans.
