★★★ QUICK LOOKColiseum Team Member She/Her | Straight | No Mate Sycamore is a shy and rather meek dragon, hardly a pick for a coliseum team member. She is much smaller than her mother was, and generally speaking much weaker as well. Her magic mostly serves as a supporting role to Judas and Loveland, either casting spells to temporarily increase their strength or stunning the enemy with a well-placed blast of Arcane energy. She is a bit distant from her teammates, both as a result of her origins and her age. She prefers to hang out with her family more than she does her friends, though she is also willing to spend time with some of the younger members of Hale-Bopp. Her older sister, the apprentice astronomer Hel, is her role model, and she hopes to be as resilient and strong as her someday. Her niece June is the closest thing she could consider to be a "best friend." Generally speaking, though, she gets along with others.

★★★ PERSONALITY Sycamore is a more introverted dragon than most. She prefers to stick to the group she feels most comfortable with rather than branch out. Around Judas, she's awkward and mostly quiet, unless it is within the context of battle. Around Loveland, it's even worse - she can barely look the Spiral in the eye without Loveland tearing up, offering quiet words of condolences. It's...awkward, to say the least. She never knew her mother that well to begin with. Around her friends she's able to open up a bit more, but overall she is still a quiet dragon, almost sullen. She can sometimes fall into fits of complete reclusiveness, only leaving the Warriors' Den to fight or, occasionally, eat. It's difficult for her to articulate why she does this. Sometimes the expectations placed on her just feel like too much. Sometimes she wishes she were toiling under the Arcanist's bony claws. |

★★★ HISTORY When Sycamore's clutch hatched, Ironrun had few words to say. It was a rather disappointing brood. Her "father" was the infamous go-getter Skoll, and, unsurprisingly, he didn't take on much of a fatherly role. Sycamore was small, and could barely open her eyes after hatching. Her colors were dull. Her eyes were unremarkable. She, as with her siblings, was destined for the Den of the Beautiful Ones. They were given simple, nondescript names, thought up in a moment or two: she was Sycamore, named for the tree that once grew on the land. Her sisters were two plum-colored dragons given the names Dryad and Fang. Her brother, a deep violet, was named Angel. All three showed more promise than her, and considering that all of them were destined for exalting, that was saying a lot. Angel had just made his final trek to the Observatory when Ironrun died. She was killed in action, word was. Slaughtered to save the others. The clan's matriarch, Colby, was too inexperienced to know what to do - she had only just formulated the clan roles, there was simply no protocol for replacing a fallen dragon. Scrambling for something to do, she decided in a split-second moment of unpreparedness that it would be Sycamore, the dragon next in line to be exalted, to take her place. This was quite shocking; a Beautiful One had never re-entered the clan. No one was sure what to make of it. But it did make sense, at least at the moment: the daughter of Hale-Bopp's strongest warrior, already partially trained in combat herself, in the prime of her youth? There wasn't a more likely choice. Today, she fights alongside her team in a state of limbo. She didn't choose her destiny - she wasn't expecting to, she wasn't even expecting to have one. From the day she hatched she was told she would go on to serve a higher purpose under the Arcanist. She feels lost and unfulfilled in her role, but doesn't know how to verbalize this. All she knows is that persistent emptiness gnawing at her belly. |

★★★ FAMILIAR Sycamore's familiar is a hippogriff named Griffy. He's incredibly attached to her, as he was her mother's familiar. After her death, it latched onto Sycamore and refused to leave her side. He serves as her protector and ally, and often accompanies her in battle.
