Howlin

The hatchling walked along the shore, looking at the ocean that separated fire from ice. He heard a call from his mother and tumbled back to the clan.

Looking around he saw a curious dragon, shadows danced across her wings and she wore the skull of a thunderbird on her head which was surrounded by a crown of purple feathers. She had a large pouch next to her, it smelled vaguely of food.

Looking around, Howlin creeped over and climbed into the pouch. He shared the space with a pearl, it was large, about as big as him. Sniffing around there was no food.

Violetfeather let out a small yelp as the hatchling climbed into her pouch, he didn't seem to hear. The dragon she was talking to noticed Howlin as well. "I'll let you take him home for a small fee?" It reached it's wing out, there was a pouch attached to it. Violetfeather considered it for a moment then, "Alright." There was an exchange of treasure and Violetfeather peeked into the pouch.

Howlin let out a yelp when the eye of the pearlcatcher appeared at the top of the bag. "Would you like to say bye to your mother?" The tundra wiggled out and jumped onto his mother, who coiled around him in a comforting squeeze. The hatching bounced over to the pearlcatcher, crawling back into the pouch and watching out of the top as they took off and flew in the direction of a large iceberg.
