Ophelia was brought to the clan as a hatchling by Rain, who found her in a traveling circus in the Tangled Wood being advertised as a 'freak who [could] read minds.' Dismayed by the tiny cage she was kept in and the way the superstitious circus folk treated her, Rain waited until the circus was packing up to leave the area and in the chaos of the move snuck in and spirited the little snapper away.

Ophie was raised by Jim, and grew up with her older sisters Frankenberry and Snowplow. Her magical abilities developed quickly, and her unnatural ability to read the emotions and intentions of others soon became a boon to the clan, as she helps her sisters manage the clan by judging the trustworthiness of strangers and soothing unhappy clanmates. Together, Ophelia and her sisters form the backbone of their community and act as its informal leaders, as Jim is always preoccupied by his nests and Rain is always wandering.

She is always calm, gentle, and incredibly kind. Even the rudest, most aggressive strangers can expect nothing less than a sweet smile, and few walk away from a conversation with her with their hearts still full of anger. Ophelia loves nothing more than to give advice to those in need, and is always happy to lend a comforting ear to her clanmates. Not satisfied with just healing the hearts of the clan, Ophelia has dedicated herself to learning the arts of healing magic, and also serves as the clan's primary healer. Though she hates violence in any form, she often goes into battle to support and heal her sisters as they defend the clan.
