Biography
Ghabha (pronounced GAOW-uh) is the Irish word for "blacksmith"; as in the blacksmith's forge.
He is named for the ethereal smoke that whisps about him, shadowing his coppery scales the colour of polished metal. When Ghab poked his head through his egg the clan was concerned, as dark smoke billowed out the more they panicked. They scrambled to scoop him out of his egg, only to discover the smoky whisps that adorned his scales. Once it was established that he had not set his egg on fire and that he was, in fact, quite safe, the clan breathed a sigh of relief.
Ronan dubbed him Ghabha for blacksmith, to commemorate the memorable day he hatched.
Ghab looks intimidating, but the reality is that he is a great big goof. Behind the literal smoke and mirrors, he is a big ol' softy who is mortified every time his smoky whisps get too close to anyone's nostrils...this may have caused a sneeze here or there. That may have accidentally caused the occasional cave fire. And one forest fire. But just the one!
Once you get to know Ghab you forget all about his less than inviting appearance and will have a hard time resisting the urge to chuckle and gab him for a snuggle. Just avoid the whisps, we've had enough fires!
