Crag's mother always told him that he would never accomplish anything in his life, which he, of course, took as a challenge. Now he's got the degree he wanted, and on top of that he's been invited to join an archaeology crew! Granted, he's never heard of any of the crewmembers, and has no idea what they're actually going to be doing, but surely it's going to be something amazing, right?

Nope. Not at all. It's been three weeks since they've arrived, and all of the vaguely interesting things they have found so far (which aren't a lot) have been shattered into pieces, along with his hopes of this whole thing turning out to be something good.
