As her name would suggest, Melody is a gifted Coatl singer who once nomadically travelled from her birth lair in the Twisting Crescendo and ventured from lair to lair to share her gift either by tutoring a clan's adult and hatchling Coatls in voice lessons or just simply entertaining. She creates all of her songs to cater to a variety of audiences; from week-old hatchlings to full adult Dragons. Many have speculated that she comes from a family of gifted Coatl bards and performers, but she has neither confirmed nor denied that rumor. All she wants to do is bring joy to other Dragons. While many males have approached her and vied for her heart, the one who came out on top was Samir (much to the disappointment of the other males).

She was good friends with Brightjaw (one of the few non-Coatl Dragons who can speak to and understand Coatls), whom she had happened upon on her way to Norwal. Their friendship was broken apart after Hypos took complete control of Brightjaw's actions and mind. When she is alone, Melody still mourns the friendship that was forcefully killed, but she knows that she is powerless against the male Skydancer who did it.
