Biography
I'm not who I used to be. Sometimes looking back, it feels like my past was a separate lifetime.
I wonder if it was a dream.
It was years ago that I was lost from my family. Dragged to some gods-forsaken land I had no recognition of. Some caves in a desert, outlined by jagged boulders and marred bones. Mostly, I was kept in the cave system with the other servants. I was made to work under some cruel dragons who saw me as just a little girl to use.
My two kidnappers would trip me, get in my way, or blow up at me for my efforts being flawed, even if they were only mistakes to a small degree. They'd turn physically violent towards me, and only me. The other servants were male, and I felt that factored into their treatment- and their willingness to obey. I felt helpless, and small. In a way, perhaps, cursed for being born female. I kept my head down and did my best to avoid punishment.
After about a year of this, something in me snapped. I had reached my limit. I had outgrown my fearful shell. Anything would be better than this. And by now, I had grown.
I did no work for the morning. As expected, the two awful beasts approached me in anger, ready to knock their "sense" into me- when I flew into a rage. No longer would I be their servant. No longer would I take the beatings. No longer would I wait for help. No-- I would save myself. It was my only option.
I tackled one, knocking him into the hard stone of the cave, ripping and tearing my claws as fast and as hard as I could against his scaled hide. I left a few deep marks, and his partner finally left his state of shock to retaliate, but I was ready for him. I swung my thick tail and slapped him across the face. He grabbed my left wing and bit down, so I craned my neck and bit into his hand. We fought until I had a window to run, and that's what I did. I ran. I ran for what felt like days. Until I couldn't run anymore. I managed to reach the edge of the desert, where the land turned to a more woodsy place. I found a small pond shrouded by trees, and hid for the rest of the day. I didn't want to be tracked down.
When I felt they wouldn't bother to find me, I went into a survival mode. Took care of my physical needs, and for awhile, it satiated me. I hunted, scavenged, and feasted- all the while my brain was burning. Lit aflame with rage. Bottomless anger that I had endured so much suffering at the hands of those dragons. Dragons who would live to find another girl to torment. I knew what I had to do. It was revenge, or burn alive from rage & regret.
Never again would I be seen as a little girl. Never again would a dragon lay eyes on me and find weakness.
Never again would the sight of me cause anything other than fright.
