Biography

RTnS1Sw.png Bio
The Plaguebringer's pride, that's what Asuna's clanmates called her. Having survived exposure to The Final Infection when she was but a hatchling, the banescale was forever changed, her blood fused with her toughened hide into near impenetrable armor. A fierce leader, she quickly became the head of her own clan, usurping the progenitors both in notoriety and strength.

In her new role as leader, Asuna quickly established her clan on the frontlines of the war against the Gladekeeper. Training dragons to be sent in the Plaguebringer's name, and rallying the funds to expand her own domain from both her own work and the clan mates she ruled. Asuna's hard work has paid off with her new lair becoming more and more at the forefront of the Plaguebringer's mind, and before long, Asuna hopes to be ruling a much larger swath of land than just one lair.

Lore
The Conquesting Queen
She stalked over the bloodied battlefield, observing the wastes below what used to be such lush, verdant ground. Asuna was victorious this day as the rot swept through the lair, the eggs decaying in their nests into a putrid liquid, the tree home withering and dying before her very eyes a testament to her power. The cowards that had fled the fight wouldn’t be returning to their land, it all belonged to the Plaguebringer’s Pride now.

The fight had been easy, she thought as she licked the singular wound that oozed out blood. Only one of them had been a worthwhile opponent, but he’d been caught off guard by her attack. She made quick work of him before sweeping through the rest of the clan, dispatching dragon after dragon until only she remained in this place. Nature would fall before her, she’d make sure of it she thought as she plucked at the strings of a harp that would soon rot.

She fanned out her wings, the adrenaline of the fight still coursing through her as she began to rearrange her winnings as she pleased. Moving their hoard out of the lair was long, easy work to be done, and it gave her a chance to figure out how she wished to use the land. Perhaps she’d move her own clanmates into the nests here, so that they could raise more soldiers for the cause. She would certainly make the lair a landing point for her clan, an outpost on the edge of the border to press forward out of, an edge over nature for her clan.

All the while, Asuna searched for traces of survivors. None remaining, she was left disappointed in the lack of hatchlings here. Were they not raising new defenders? No wonder they had fallen so swiftly, though it was a tragedy not to have new members to add to her own clan. Their green eyes would have been such a pretty reminder of her conquests here. Asuna looked out to the horizon, musing over what she might name hatchlings she’d find in further conquests.

Painful Promises
Asuna slunk back to her lair, low movements hiding the broken bones in her legs in the aftermath of the fight. The invaders were dead, but the Plaguebringer's Pride knew better than to display her weakness for all the world to see. Instead, she crept silently in the blackness of the waning day back to her own bedspace, in need of rest long before she'd need healing.

Her bones creaked as she laid down on the bone-laden space, a faint hiss of pain escaping her as the weight was relieved from her broken leg. Asuna could feel her pulse beating against the injury, blood still lazily oozing from a bitemark in the meat of her shoulder. They tried to take her victories away in the night, but she was yet victorious. They'd tried to kill her, but she was stronger.

The invaders too, had served the Plaguebringer. They should have joined her, rather than tried to fight her. The anger broiled in her chest, how could they choose to fight their own while the Gladekeeper still walked the earth? How could they kill their own kind while their enemies yet breathed the same air they did, so close to where they'd attacked?

The fury of it filled her mind as she drifted into a restless sleep away from the pain in her bones. The anger fueled her dreams with new thoughts of conquest. If she wished to truly defeat the Gladekeeper, she would have to conquer her own people to unite them. All of plague would be under her banner, she swore to herself and her goddess, promises forged in her pain.

Prayer of Pestilence
Asuna laid down among the bones and moth-ravaged fabric scraps that made up her bed space, settling in as she began her nightly devotions to the goddess.

"Plaguebringer, give me the strength to continue the fight in spite of the injuries of the past. Let my prior wounds guide my future blows, let the injuries I inflict lead not to sudden death, but fatal infection. Let my own infections terrify those who could never survive that which I wear as a mark of pride." Asuna looked over her clan's domain from the lofted mound on which she made her bed.

"Harbinger of decay, let my actions today lead to the festering of your foes tomorrow. Show me your enemies, so that I may remove them from your sight. Guide me through verdant halls of those who oppose you, I will turn their paths rotten in your name." Her clan had pushed so far, done so much. They were her strength, her pride, her joy.

"Mother of the strong, let me lay low the weak so their bodies may harbor the infections they feared in life. Let me show their flesh and bone to the mushrooms and vultures, that they may know rot and decay in death. Bless my blows with your scorned rage, that I may be your weapon in this most holy war." The hatchlings were growing stronger by the day, Asuna was elated at their ease in handling the infections they'd received.

"Pestilent queen, hear my prayers and heed them. Lead me as I lead my clan, give me the strength to defend them. Give me a test of faith so that I may prove myself each day, so I may rest victorious each night in your name under the blood red sky of my home."

Lullaby of the Languishing
They'd been attacked again, by the gladekeeper's zealots. Though Asuna's anger still boiled in her veins, she had duties more important than seething herself to sleep. Right now, the hatchlings were in need of someone to calm them enough to get them to bed so everyone else could rest and recover.

She approached the nesting grounds with careful steps, not wanting any sudden sounds to disturb them further. The hatchlings gathered near her, looking as embarrassed to be afraid as they were afraid. Asuna ushered them together under her wings, telling them she'd protect them, and would even sing them a lullaby if they swore to be quiet. She remembered one of the ones her mother had sung her when she'd been exposed to the final infection, when she was expected to die.

The hatchlings quickly agreed, and she began in a raspy voice, far from the songbird qualities her mother had possessed.

"Alas my dear you've fallen ill
be strong as the sickness goes through you
I give to you my hopes and prayers
Recover quick and steadily

Languish now, daughter dear
Languish yet my dearest
Languish is our strength my dear
Oh pray let your disease languish

Your fever beaten with your ills
Oh, my daughter dear, survive for me
Now I pray live on stronger yet
die not dear daughter under blood red skies

Languish now, daughter dear
Languish yet my dearest
Languish is our strength my dear
Oh pray let your disease languish

Ah, languish now, goodnight dear
To goddess pray you prosper here
for you are still a fighter true
wake once more and fight, you

Languish now, daughter dear
Languish yet my dearest
Languish is our strength my dear
Oh pray let your disease languish"

The hatchlings asleep around her, Asuna too soon fell asleep, content they would all be safe under her watch.

No Survivors
Adrenaline pounded in Asuna's veins as she flew up above the wasting battlefield to survey it. Her clan was stronger than their foes, and were slaughtering the gladekeeper's children with ease. Their bodies would rot, but it was not the bodies laid to rest that caught Asuna's eye.

In the distance a lone dragon fled, to tell others, to warn others. Asuna couldn't let it tell others of such things. She let out a broken, piercing cry as she dove towards the coward that fled. Her form a blood red shadow blotting out the sun as she tore through the air.

The dragon below heard her cry and panicked, clumsily trying to flee faster into the thick underbrush of the forest. It was no use for hiding, the greenery withering as Asuna passed it, bursting through decaying trees rather than go around them in her pursuit. She closed in on the dragon quickly, coming down on top of it with a horrible crushing sound.

The violence corded in her very atoms made quick work of her foe as she lifted its body, carrying it with her as she flew up back to the battle. With a furious strength, Asuna threw its corpse onto the battlefield. The creature's clan cried out in anguish and despair, though they too would soon be snuffed out.
