mellifer picks up another jar of honey and sets it on the wooden stand. she’s selling beeswax, honeycomb, and honey, as well as bees for those who are becoming beekeepers. you look at her wares- you had no idea so much could come from bees! mellifer sees your look and smiles.

“bees are amazing, aren’t they?”

her voice surprises you. it’s sweet, but much firmer than you’d expected from such a shy dragon. you nod.

“my produce is fresh from my farm. i sell flowers and vegetables too, not just honey. everyone seems to forget that,” she says with a frown. she shrugs. “well, if you see anything you like, let me know!”

you smile at her and pick up a small vial of honey, many of which are set out for taste-testing. the honey is sweet and would be perfect for some tea. you buy a pot of the stuff and wave at mellifer as you go to the next stall. she smiles back at you and keeps working.

Really, for a dragon who dealt with such energetic creatures as bees, Mellifer was sure quiet. Not to the point where she would allow others to "walk" over her, but she was definitely a dragon who kept to herself. This yellow wildclaw was always like that, even as a young-ling. While other dragonets would play outside, pretending to battle each other, she would stay under the trees, scribbling down notes and enjoying the nature around her. It always seemed as she preferred nature to dragons' company, shying away from large groups of dragons, yet always seeking out the comfort of nature and it's children around her. And it seemed that nature loved Mellifer back. The garden she grew was always healthy and strong, even rivaling the clan's gardens, and all the nearby animals always seemed to find peace with her, playing with her.
Mellifer is especially close with bees. It was always like that, even before she became an official beekeeper for her clan.
The little creatures always flied around her, never hurting or annoying, but providing some sort of eccentric company. It was as if they, with their golden wings that beat to fast, have chosen her to be their keeper. And oh skies, who was she to go against their wishes?
-Even though she's friendly with mostly everyone, there are quite a few dragons who Mellifer can call a friend. Most of those dragons are healers or fellow beekeepers, and she often stops by the market to chat with them while she's passing by.
-Mellifer spends most of her free-time reading, mostly about bees and other children of nature. It's not that she's obsessed with her job, no, she just really likes it. One might even say that she is married to her job.
-Mellifer sketches down and writes down all her observations and thoughts in a small green journal under her coat. The journal is filled with many detailed sketches and eloquent writings, not that anyone will ever have the luck to see it. She protects it almost as fiercely as she protects her bees.
-Has a small obsession with oranges for whatever reason? Mellifer always has an orange in her talons, peeling the thing. It's probably more of a nervous habit than a liking to the food, as she never eats the orange after peeling it.
-She especially hates talking to strangers, which makes her job harder, since she as shop owner has to do a ton of talking with her buyers. Mellifer has gotten to counting numbers in her head when she has to step out and talk. The technique works, at least a bit, as her business is running very smoothly.
(she's in the 17-21 age range in human years, and in lore, she has no hatchlings, so ignore those.)
