A soft breeze gently tousled his fur as he wandered along, his tail swishing happily behind him. Ollie stopped walking for a moment, having spotted a white cabbage butterfly fluttering past him. Ooh! Maybe he can practice his catching! He turned to look towards the insect, wiggling his back half before pouncing forwards in an attempt to catch the thing. Not a couple of steps later he’d heard a rustling that he’d quickly ignored, continuing to happily bound after the butterfly, batting at it a little when he’d gotten close enough.

Behind him, was a rather large creature. A Bamboo Phytocat, to be exact. It crept out of the bushes nearby, now stalking the young Tundra. It followed him for a distance before lunging forwards, latching onto his back leg. Both in pain and in shock, the little one gave a screech, turning around and trying to attack it back, only to find it had let go of him, visually gagging.

Confused, Oleander backed away slowly before dashing back to the clan on 3 legs, pained tears flowing down his face. Poor kid just wanted to go for a walk alone for once and now he knows why Saphira wanted someone to go with him.

Guess what? He walked back to the clan with a bleeding leg and the first thing he did get was an earful. Well, after they made sure he was alright, anyways.

“What happened?” Glacier, the head healer, asked.

“I-I was... chasin-ng a b-butterfly an’... an’ a… a ph-phytocat j-jumped out an’ bit my… my leg,” He explained between sobs.

“Ah. Yes. They aren’t very nice. They hurt too,” He hummed, tightening the bandage, “Do you wanna show me which one it was? I heard you saying to Saphira that it looked injured when you walked away,”

Ollie nodded slowly. Maybe they could bring it home and snack on it instead.

Not 5 minutes later, they did walk back to where he was, the Tundra comfortably on the Pearlcatcher’s back as they walked. They’d found that, when they did get back to where he was standing when he’d gotten bit, the phytocat was… definitely no longer alive. After inspecting, Glacier came to the conclusion that it wasn’t injured before it had bitten Oleander. After much closer inspection, he’d come to the conclusion that it had been poisoned somehow. He’d investigate further, but after watching a few insects fly over and bite Ollie, dying moments later, he got his answer. Was… was the Tundra somehow poisonous? It… sure seemed like it so far. It would definitely be an interesting concept and it answers… a lot more than questions it brings.

____They’d definitely had a lot more questions about him before. For example, a good few times he’d tried to share his food with someone, the dragon he’d shared with ended up getting sick. It wasn’t the food itself, after looking, but it was too weird to just brush off as coincidence. People quickly learned to not share with him, even if he offered.

"Well. That answers a lot of things,” Glacier commented, glancing back at the Tundra child.

“What does..?” He asked, tilting his head.

“You’re poisonous,” That snippet of information confused the little one, especially as they walked back to the clan, leaving the carcass. The two discussed things for a while, the Pearl explaining what that meant to him and why he may have to be a little more careful in some cases.

____Once they were back, Glacier reported his findings to the other, giving an explanation to some questions others had. He repeated the information to Saphira, telling her what he told him.

____So, as it turns out, Oleander was a curious child. Not only did he look somewhat reminiscent of poisonous frogs many clans use to tip arrows, he has found that he too seems to be… rather poisonous. It could likely be much more positive than negative for him, but it won't be the best for any future enemies that come across him, that's for sure. He was sure to be a formidable foe to those that choose to battle him. Well, if he chose to battle, that is.

____Having found out he was poisonous somehow, for some reason, Ollie decided he'd rather see what he can do with that ability, the clan's head Alchemist, Hemlock taking the little one under his wing as an apprentice, helping him try this, that and the other, teaching him the basics of all this. While doing so, he'd found that these poisons could be altered, using the secretion of dreamwakers and a dash of herbal plantain, to allow him to cure a small number of ails and other poisons.

With this new information, he'd asked Glacier to take him on as an apprentice at the same time so he could help heal other dragons using the knowledge he was getting from experimenting with things as an alchemist. So far, it's going quite well.
