Everyone was perplexed when he hatched. No one could understand why. All of his siblings were normal. But this one? He looks fake. He looks like a plushie, complete with what people assume is patchworked minky fabric instead of skin. The hatchling is… supposedly… healthy… so, at least that’s good. His eyes are bright, like all of his four siblings, with the five mirror hatchlings at peak health when they hatched. But this one, this purple and white male hatchling, is starkly different. His skin is as soft as minky fabric, stitched and patched like a haphazard quilt, the soft, plush skin covering a round, plush, and cuddly body that seems to mimic the appearance of an overstuffed stuffed animal. His body is soft and plush, with a large, round belly, Thick, round thighs, a thick, round, long tail, round, chubby arms, stubby, fat, flightless wings, and a round, chubby face with round, full looking cheeks and a slight double chin, said face full of warmth, charm, and kindness.
The small patchwork mirror hatchling just wobbles as he walks, his chunky, soft arms usually outstretched as he silently requests to be picked up and held. The hatchling isn’t light, despite his plushie appearance, but that doesn’t deter him from wanting to be held, his pink eyes glistening with silent awe whenever he’s held. Though he rarely speaks, and that was discovered to be of his, albeit shy, choice, he does meekly murmur whenever he politely asks for food, which often startles people who don’t expect what looks like a plush toy to speak. What surprised his packmates, aside from his patchwork, minky skin, is his appetite, which is close to that of the most voracious of dragons in his pack, including the pack matriarch, which has helped him keep a plush look, even as he grew older.
As the boy grew older, his shy personality and voracious appetite never faded, nor did his patchwork skin clear up, but every dragon he has met was touched by his personality and appearance. As a teen, he was often picked to help with cooking for the night, though that idea quickly ended when he was caught eating ingredients as he cooked, and he was also called to help set the table and keep the hatchlings under control and away from the kitchen, which lead the various adult dragons to notice one, small, thing: hatchlings instantly obeyed and loved him. So his new job was found: Hatchling entertainer and sitter.
Though, even though he is just newly twenty and has a brand new job, he is still just as plushie-like, round, soft, fat, and endearing as he was when he was hatched, his pink eyes glistening with the same hatchlinglike wonder, kind, loving attitude, and voracious appetite he had when he hatched, all those years ago.
The dragon’s name is Chinquapin, and he is a plushie-like, purple and white mirror dragon from the arcane Cainaka pack, who is beloved by all.
