Having a strong love of her family, it was only natural that when her brother had been drawn into the Plaguebringer's grasp, she swore to either save him or join him there to forever guard him. Neither were necessary, as she learned after they joined Asuna's ambitions.

There, Gemscale's made a name for herself as a healer. Although this draws occasional suspicion from her Plague counterparts who might want their infections, she gets no complaints when she sets broken bones or soothes a ragged throat from coughing. Asuna has given her a small hollow away from the rest of the rot, and seems to trust her to fulfill her duties without ruffling too many feathers.
